All That Glitters ...

The old saying (Shakespeare): "All that glitters is not gold" ...

The large religious piece and "gold coin" are not metallic. They're plastic, surface finds. I blinked on spotting the "gold coin" on the ground.

From detecting, there's a men's ring that once had a large stone in it. It was four inches down, and I spent a lot of time digging around the hole, trying to find the stone. No luck -- maybe it had fallen out long ago, and that's why the ring was tossed away -- who knows?

Finding a Tulsa, Oklahoma souvenir token in the ground here in Jacksonville, Florida ... what's the story for that?

A great day, with the Garrett GTI2500.

Wow ! I guess we pretty much are all finding the same kind of junk .I also found two of those phony made in China" Gold Oro " coins as surface finds . They were at the same location on two different trips . It's an elementary school .

I really get excited about finds on top of the ground. Yesterday while detecting I found 2 real nice Indian points, one arrow and one spear.
