Tracking meteorites with magnetometer

I have never searched for mines before. I usually go searching old and lost treasures with my minelab metal detector.

Last weekend, I visited my uncle's house for Canada Day. He is an archaeologist. He had a geophysical instrument, a ground magnetometer. My uncle told me he used it for finding ancient ruins hidden below the ground. He said it can also be used for finding mines. Later, when I reached home I was thinking whether it can be used for searching meteorites. My uncle isn't using that instrument anymore, so I can borrow it if it is of any use to me. I know finding meteorites is not easy.

What do you think about this idea?
Thank you for your time.

Why not ask your uncle? Hes obviously an expert on the instrument and can also teach you how to get the best out of it.
