Just curious about what your expectations are when considering to buy a metal detector, from both experienced and who just started detecting.

First on my list is can the detector handle higher mineralization and higher conductive salt conditions. That means, can it get good depth while also giving accurate information down to the edge of detection in case I need to do selective digging. The most recent simultaneous multi frequency...

Ghost targets help on Nokta Double Score

I can’t remember the default settings for the Double Score. If your ground is moderate to higher mineralized/conductive you can try raising the recovery speed. You can also try the multi M3 setting. For the latest simultaneous multi frequency detectors, some one way pops and clicks even using...

Deus 1 V5.2 - 9” LF coil - Gold ring crusaders may find this video helpful

Hi squirrel1. I have continued to periodically try the methods you outlined both for the FMF coils and the HF2 coil. Anyone that has never tried this needs to know that what squirrel1 is showing in these videos about gold ring targets having different target IDs especially with the HF2 coil...

XP Interchangeability of D2 and Icon(X)

The way I understand it is when software version 4.2 is released, yes. Icon and Icon X are compatible with all Deus 2 coils only when V4.2 is installed. Same for the new Icon/Icon X 11" coil. It will only be compatible with Deus 2 remotes when V 4.2 is installed. That software hasn't been...

Is calabash testing the new xp icon ?

Scott is not currently testing the Icon. He made that clear in his YouTube video from 5/6 and 5/7. He is waiting to receive one just like anyone else that has pre-ordered one.

    Axiom at the beach?

Axiom has a Salt Mode so it should work well at a saltwater beach. It's not waterproof however and the coils are going to float due the the way they are made. Andrew Benson @ Relics and Rings YouTube channel did several Axiom videos at the Great Salt Lake in Utah which has much higher salt...

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

I have never received anything free from XP. I bought my current Deus 2 from BART at Big Boys Hobbies. It’s my 3rd one. I sold the other two after being disappointed with them. When I realized that the HF2 coil was really going to happen I bought one again. Deus 2 still is not my favorite...

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

I agree. 60 ft deep in fresh water looking for small gold nuggets and silver coins sounds like a really unique location. Not something I have encountered.

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

Opinions get cancelled out by facts. Deus 2 is the only VLF that is capable of detecting micro jewelry and smaller gold nuggets submerged down to 66 feet depth. It simply has NO competition currently for that kind of scuba detecting.

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

I own the Manticore and Deus 2. Deus 2 may look flimsy but it is a rugged detector. I don’t care for the antenna wire for submerged hunting either but if you are a scuba diver, right now it is the only VLF capable of doing what you have described in your posts. No way Manticore is detecting at...

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

For micro jewelry especially low conductors and for really small low conductor coins on land or submerged less than 16 ft, Deus 2 is very hard to beat and can’t be beat past 16 feet submerged

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

Sorry Vito but I believe the CZ-21 is always in salt mode so any low/mid conductor much smaller than 0.5 grams is going to be missed. The CZ-3D had a way to turn off salt mode by using normal mode. It was capable of more sensitivity on small low and mid conductors but it isn’t fully waterproof...

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

As others have said CZ and Excal are not known for their micro target abilities or for small gold prospecting. Being great in saltwater often means not so great on small targets by default on deeper dive capable detectors. XP Deus 2 is excellent for diving to 66 feet and is a very versatile...

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

CZ and Excal can handle 60 ft depth. Manticore is 16 ft max depth. XP Deus 2 can handle 60ft max depth and can do submerged small gold nugget prospecting, micro jewelry and silver coin detecting

If you could only USE the ???

Manticore Manticore Gold: Manticore. Gold as in gold jewelry, micro jewelry and gold nugget prospecting Silver: at least where I detect Manticore wins because of the next question. It's not close. Multi IQ is far superior in the dirt conditions here for all deep target detecting compared to...

    Vanquish 360

The only way to really know is for an independent engineer to do some major testing on these models. That has not been done as far as I know. There was some extensive testing of the Equinox 800 by Carl Moreland of Geotech a few years ago. It uses basically the same Multi IQ technology as the...

Garrett Goldmaster 24K as a coin / jewelry / relic machine

X-Terra Elite is similar to the Equinox models. It has multi frequency and single frequency choices. X-Terra Pro only has single frequency options. Highest is 15 kHz. Not high enough for micro jewelry hunting compared to a lot of other SMF detectors.

Garrett Goldmaster 24K as a coin / jewelry / relic machine

As far as a single frequency gold prospecting VLF detector, Garrett really did not have one at the time they bought Whites and they needed one for the African market. The Goldmaster 24K at that time was from many people's experience, the top of the line higher single frequency gold prospecting...
