    AQ and clad?

Congrats on using the machine to its full capabilities. I switch off between the AQ and manticore - usually even same day. I get used to one and have to relearn the other. I usually run the AQ in all metal and dig all. I can’t do that with the manticore unless I back way off on the sensitivity -...

    AQ and clad?

Anyone know of video showing the AQ missing clad? It has a reputation for it and I’m wondering if anyone has looked into it in detail.

    DIY Webcam?

What is the cost? I suppose there is a monthly cell bill too? There are several multimillion dollar homes overlooking the beach - I haven’t talked to any homeowners. I don’t expect there is much incentive for them to allow placement.

    DIY Webcam?

I’m pissed there aren’t many free webcams for local beaches anymore. Surfline too expensive and I think misses CDmar. What would it cost and what is necessary to do a DIY webcam? I am a ham if that helps? Cellphone vs ham radio approach (is it legal?). Solar powered?

I get to the beach with my AQ then this happens…

I used the new shaft yesterday. I notice some things with it. I have it fixated to the main white fiberglass shaft pretty close to the end. It needs to be longer for a decent swing. I’m only 5’ 10” and the coil is too close to my feet. Even though the coupler is synched up the connection flexes...

I get to the beach with my AQ then this happens…

I bought a 19mm ID CF tube of eBay. Was too tight, had to sand down the shaft a bit for it to fit. Cut slots and piece to 3” with my bandsaw. Epoxy glue. I made an extra but it won’t slide down the shaft - should have ordered 20mm ID size.

    Unusual interaction while detecting today.

Strange I notice an abnormal number of young boys that may be Autistic. (My wife says I am as well). They ask if they can use my machine or have the target. Follow me halfway down the beach, stepping in where I want to dig…

    Unusual interaction while detecting today.

I must have met his daughter. Same declarations and disgust from her. 16-18 years old. Out of the blue as I walked by.

I get to the beach with my AQ then this happens…

I finally spoke with a customer support person and she said the coil adapter is not available separately. I will also try to fix mine if I can find a cf tube like OBN modified. In the meantime I’ll order a replacement shaft from Serious Detecting for $69 plus shipping (on sale).

I get to the beach with my AQ then this happens…

I was able to drill out the tube and get all the remnants out. They had filled the inside with a resin up to the end of it. Stuck a pvc pipe down the center and hammered it free.

I get to the beach with my AQ then this happens…

The remnant of the coupler is really not playing nice. Only good thing is it has a lower melting point rep than the shaft so I can dab at it with a soldering iron. But if they glued it I’ll have to drill and that is risky.

I get to the beach with my AQ then this happens…

After driving 45 minutes and then walking to the beach, I look at my AQ and see the coil dangling from the shaft. Of course no answer from calls to First Texas customer service. Do they sell just the coil attach piece or you have to buy the whole thing?

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

Oh wait, I’m stupid(!). I thought the videos were the ones I saw earlier, that showed CTX faults. But no, these show Manticore faults. The whole thing about targets are only good if you test targets as found then turn 90 degrees and try again is now at risk. So now I’m left not knowing what to...

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

At the beach, the likelihood of a nail being in the 4+” radius of a gold ring may be low but the nail can be thought of as a ferrous concentration much like black sand and that is a common occurrence. The test is not really an air test - it is a magnetic field response test, pointing out an...

(Want to sell) Whites TDI SL

Sounds like a challenging project for me but if you can get it repaired for $150 you should do it. What is your location? My shipto is 92679.

    manticore

I also wonder if scammers pick the Manticore to make their ads with now. Some prices are pretty low.

    Can someone help me out?

Look on eBay for a cheap lab dc power supply. You can use it to test your detector, power battery chargers, a multitude of things. 0-30V range and get look for a current limit knob on it too. The meter will tell you current limit or current demand. You will establish a normal current reading...

    Beach confusion…

Research a plastic feed shovel with holes drilled in it. Works great and you can check a full scoop with your detector. Just not that great at digging deep holes where rocks may be.
