    Explorer II

Hey .. long time no see ! :detecting: I just got a sweet deal on an Explorer II with the stock 1000 coil and a 10X12 SEF. Anyone have any time on the stock coil ? Was curious how it performed . .Pros? Cons? Thanks .. it's nice to be back

    Explorer issue . .

My SE has been pulsing, for lack of a better word, like when you might be getting interference from an electric fence. Even if I'm miles from any electric utilities. Connections are tight. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Going to try a factory reset and see if it helps ..

    A question . .

When did metal detecting stop being a working man's hobby, and become a pastime for people driving around in $40,000 SUV's and sipping lattes ? Did I miss something ?

    Attn: SE Pro users ..

I am interested to know what some of your settings are .. Which one's do you tend to stick with that give results ? I have slowly been gravitating to Manual sensitivity because I feel it is getting more depth despite the fact that it is noisier (almost to the point of annoying) .. Anyways...

    Time for a change ..

I am considering selling my Minelab Explorer for a Deus. Looking for something with a faster response time and lightweight. Would like to hear some pros and cons before I part with my beloved Explorer . .

1917-S walking liberty half dollar .. :detecting:

Went back to a spot I had nearly given up on .. Signal was a solid 00-28 .. but the trash came out of the hole first. Was running Manual sensitivity around 22, not sure if that made a difference in whether or not I found it. 1917-S walking liberty half dollar. One of the more uncommon types with...

    Auto vs. Manual sensitivity ..

I recently decided to try running my Explorer in manual sensitivity. And despite the fact that it's a bit noisy, I am picking up an additional few inches of depth. Now I feel like I have been cheating myself for the last three years, and possibly missing out on some good, deeper finds. Has...

    Falsing :surrender:

Ok . .so on top of 2013 being, for me, the absolute worst detecting season in recorded history, my almost 3 year old Explorer has suddenly become very sensitive to any movement. It doesn't matter which coil is attached, it will false at the slightest movement. I am about ready to throw it in the...

End of July hunt .. :minelab:

This has been a not-so-great summer for coin totals .. it's just been too hot and buggy to want to even step outside. But the weather did improve enough to start getting out again .. went back to a place I had hit hard two years ago and spooked up three more merc dimes, two 1945's and a 1940-D...

I'd rather be lucky at this hobby than good at it ..

I stumbled on this playground that looks like it hasn't been used in over 20 years. Targets were scarce and I'm sure it's been pounded. But they missed this little beauty .. 1849 Four Pence .. holed for a necklace. My second oldest coin ever .. first oldest is an 1838 half dime that I found when...

    Coil repair ..

Does anyone out there know a reputable repairman who can do a professional job of fixing a bad coil cable ? The coil is a Detech EQ2 Pro 6" Double D for the Minelab Explorer.. and I would rather not send it all the way back to Bulgaria. My attempt at fixing it was an epic fail ... and my advice...

A gift from the detecting gods ?

Hi .... I have never posted here, as I had never owned a White's detector up until today. I came home from work today and found this wedged into my screen door ... no note attached. I live in a very small town and anyone who knows me knows that I am in the hobby. So I can only guess that...

Sniffed out my first silver coin ring today ! :minelab:

It appears to be a French silver coin from 1919 ... very happy I braved the weather today ! :detecting: I also visited this yard a few days ago and found a sweet spot that produced some nice oldies .. caught that on video .. enjoy !!

Found my first silver coin ring today .. :bouncy:

I was able to dodge the rain long enough to sniff this out of the mud today. The tone was questionable, but the crosshairs said silver .. It appears to be French .. with a date of 1919. Got one off the bucket list . . Also, I had visited this yard a few days ago and found a little 3'...

Last couple of hunts .. :minelab:

I am off to a very late start this year, after a very long winter. I think I was detecting by mid march last year, where this year I didn't get out for the first time until April 28th :surrender: As a matter of fact there is still a foot plus of ice on the lakes up here as of today .. unreal...
