Couple of finds from yesterday's Hudson River hunt...

Managed a 1942 Wheat, knife blade, lead seal and an interesting spoon from the Hotel Pennsylvania (in New York City). I did a little research as I had never heard of it and found out it was built in 1919 and is in the process of currently being demolished. Some wild info about it in Wikapedia. I...

    Show your SOV pride!

Awfully quiet around here and it's been a month since any activity so what gives? Is everyone out hunting with their faithful Sovs? I sure hope so...I thought it would be fun to post pics of our current Sov set ups, especially the modified ones. I'll start with a couple pics of my beloved XS...

Hunt that started lousy ended up pretty decent!

So I headed over to the park today and started the hunt finding nothing but a park attendant in a golf cart telling me I can't dig here! He looked all of 17 yrs old and it was the 1st time I've ever been approached. I was like "Ummmm, I've been hunting here over 20 years and never once had a...

    Polish religious medal found

Went down by the banks of the Hudson River for a couple hours this morning and found this Polish religious medal that rang up in the dime range (44-46). I'm assuming it's sterling silver, it's not marked though. Translation reads: "Sweetest heart of Jesus, have mercy on us" and on the other side...

Legend w/LG15 coil nabbed me a silver ring today

Spent a few hours at my favorite park today with the Legend and LG15 coil. I was just shooting clad among all the trash and was having some fun sniping nickels with the occasional quarter or dime popping up. Got a solid 46 about 2" down and figured it for another dime and out pops this 925...

Found a unique ring today down by the river...

After a two hour hunt down by the Hudson River, I wasn't finding much more than 22 shells, melted pieces of lead and a fishing sinker. As I was leaving to head up to the park, my Ron's 180 meter showed a solid "165" and I'm thinking "eh, probably just a pulltab" but since the digging was easy, I...

    Nokta's Stainless beach scoop

I don't get down to the beach very often but I'm headed down to the Jersey shore tomorrow and needed a relatively lightweight but strong beach scoop. I ordered Nokta's 3 in 1 scoop since I didn't want to blow a lot of money on this. I immediately realized the breakdown travel rod was way too...

    Nokta Stainless Scoop

Easter Surprise, SILVER in my change!

Yesterday when I purchased some items at my local Dollar General, I found a 1937 Merc dime while emptying my pockets into the change jar! I didn't even have to metal detect that one,LOL. Has anyone else ever been fortunate enough to experience this? Made my day... HH, George

An Injun and a good deed today at the park...

So I decided to give the new version 1.11 update a try at my favorite park today. Within 15 or 20 minutes I popped out this IH penny with a mint reverse but unfortunately a totally trashed obverse. When I first dug it out, I thought I made out 1890 but as the air oxidized it further, the green...

    Where the Buffalo roam...

Found this 1926 Buff and mint 1963 Jefferson at the park today. Figured I would get out before the impending snow storm hits us here in upstate NY. Really loving the Legend and 6" coil combo and still amazed at the depths I'm digging up targets. I also can't believe what I paid for this ProPack...

Solid 26 turned out to be a nice high end pocket knife!

I hit my favorite park today and nailed this nice stainless steel pocket knife. Unfortunately, I dinged it with my Lesch shovel but I checked the price on Amazon and it goes for almost $50! Nice "Made in America" knife. I'll take it! HH, George

Sov came out of retirement to find me 141 yr old IH and a pendant

I've been giving the Legend all my attention lately for the past month or so and my Sov was getting jealous so I took her out for a spin today at the park. She did NOT disappoint! Got a nice deep high tone that turned out to be an 1882 IH and also this heart pendant which rang up in the copper...

    Flying "HIGH" on 4kHz!

So I decided to experiment a little with some 4kHz hunting at my favorite pounded park yesterday. I said to myself "let's see what kind of depth this little 6" coil is REALLY capable of" as I lowered my recovery down to 3 and maxed my sensitivity to 30. First, I have to say I was pleasantly...

Interesting park find with the Legend today

Found this old Pond's face cream container about a foot deep with the 6" coil today. Looks like porcelain but I guess it's called "milk glass". I think it may be an older one because of the textured inconsistencies in the glass? The top rang out in the upper 40s and low 50s . Given the depths...

New Year's Day SILVER on my maiden voyage with the Legend!

Well, I FINALLY got out today to my favorite POUNDED park and took advantage of the fantastic 50 degree weather to test out the Legend. I had no real expectations of finding much, let alone silver. I started with the stock coil and quickly realized I'd be better off learning this machine with...

Well, I pulled the trigger! Now the wait begins for my incoming Christmas present!

Found a GREAT semi local dealer just one state over that gave me a fantastic price on a Legend ProPack with the 1.09 updates already factory installed. Not trying to contribute to the detector manufacturer wars but I just can't see spending exactly DOUBLE for for what I feel is the Legend's...

    Legend question

After using the Simplex+ for a year and a half and being extremely impressed with both it's build quality and performance, I've decided Nokta/Makro has earned my hard earned dollars for a Legend. Gonna treat myself for Christmas this year! My question is this: Does anyone know if the new units...

Question for you Legend owners that also happen to own a Sovereign or Excal

I posted this over on the Sov/Excal forum as well. Just curious how you feel the Legend compares with the Sov/Excal, especially on a wet salt beach? How 'bout on dry land? I know the Legend will probably have better recovery speed but how does it compare depth and stability wise? The Simplex...
