Any ideas what this is? It's 4 to 5 inches in length.

    Silver ring and marble

Hunted a beach area today and scored a silver ring and a nice marble. The ring is not marked 925...but is marked "FF"?. But it had that silver look coming out of the dirt (you know what I mean...blotchy black tarnish with silver glimmers shining through) and it cleaned up like silver. Pics are...

    Score at the beach

I headed back to the beach today and scored a silver necklace (marked Italy 925) and an apple watch series 3. The charm on the necklace is NOT silver.

Five silver dimes the hard way

Ok so over the past week or so I've been hunting an old home site and have made some really great finds. So far I've found five silver dimes with the last one (found yesterday) being a really nice condition 1917 merc which is not totally unusual until I sat back and looked at my new...

    Oldest silver coin to date

A 3 hour hunt today produced my oldest silver coin to date and another matron head large cent (my 3rd in a week). The silver coin is an 1841 O dime. The large cent is somewhere between 1816 and 1836...with no visible date. The dime appears to be in great shape. Opinions on the grade of the...

2 large cents, war nickel and rosie

I hunted an old ghost town today. Very few signals but there was a high return on the few holes I dug. My good finds were two large cents, a war nickel and a rosie! The better of the large cents looks to be an 1820 which would make it my oldest coin yet. For a large cent it has a surprisingly...

    Whoa...Didnt expect this bucket lister!

I was hunting a beach area where I've found a lot of jewelry recently and suddenly bam...my cool swings over a bucket lister coin that was sitting on the surface....an 1853P Half Dime! I just wasn't expecting any old coin finds for the hunt so it really floored me when I bent down and saw what...

    Surf's up!

I found a new beach location that appears to be pretty undetected. I've hunted a total of 9 hours so far and found some nice jewelry and ridiculous amounts of clad. The best jewelry finds are....a 14k gold wedding band and a pendent with what I believe is a 1822 Spanish reale in it that appears...

    Another one dime day!

Found this one in a small city park. I found it within the first 15 minutes of hunting then spent another couple hours looking for more but no other big finds except for a couple of wheaties. I'll take it! Nice details on this one...

    Two one dimes...first seated

I've been away from the forum for a while because I haven't had the detector out but over the past two weeks I've been swinging again and found these two beauties. A Barber dime and MY FIRST SEATED coin!

    White Gold Wedding Band Recovered

My brother's friend lost his gold wedding band at the beach 5 days ago. My brother asked if I could help find it. 5 days passed between it being lost and me being able to get there to search. Luckily no one got to it before I did. Found it barely under the surface on the blanket line in the...

    Super light 1993 penny

Yesterday I got a solid "19" signal on my Etrac that was fairly deep so I decided to dig it. For the non-etrackers out there...19 is squarely in the pull tab range. When I opened up the turf I was surprised to find a penny in the hole. My first thought was there had to be something else in the...

Any ideas on age of this button?

I found this button at an old park and the patina looks old. Any ideas on age? The nickel is for sizing but it also rang up with an ID similar to a nickel.

    Best v nickel yet

Another hunt at my favorite 1800s park gets me my nicest V nickel yet...1900 and in decent shape. Usually v's are close to unreadable out of my local soil. This one looks decent. Any tips on best way to shake off the remaining crud are appreciated.

    Barber park streak continues

My barber-only silver streak continues at my favorite est. 1800s park. Today I scored my 9th silver coin from the park and every single one has been a barber. So far I have pulled a barber half, a barber quarter and 7 barber dimes. Today's dime is a 1903 p. Also scored a 1901 indian and a...

    Sunken ghost town finds....1880s finds

Hunted a sunken ghost town today that was submerged in the 1950s or 60s but was founded in the late 1800s. Found two indian head pennies, a son of civil war vets medal, warranted flask and porcelain cherub figure. All items seem to date to the 1880s.

    Thin ornate possibly silver

This rang up in the nickel range. It is thin and ornate and looks old. Found in 1800s park. Came out of the ground shiny and looks like it could be silver. Was in very wet ground so it is tarnished. It is way too thin to be a spoon handle and the smaller end does not appear to be broken off of...

    New pinpoint technique

I've added a new (but old) pinpointing technique to my arsenal when hunting with the etrac. I used to run an old Whites machine and this technique comes from the manual for that machine. The technique is to, in normal hunting mode (not pinpoint mode), make an X over the target...by first...

2nd war nickel of the week

Well after a personal war nickel drought I found my second-ever war nickel in the same week I found my first-ever. This one also rang up in the standard nickel range...although I have read they sometimes ring up higher than a normal nickel. Both of my war nickels are 1943 Ps...but this one looks...

    Two silvers and a half

These are my keepers from the past several hunts. I was hunting fairly modern ground so nothing super old...but still some nice finds. The half and war nickel are from a campground and the little silver ring from an elementary school. The war nickel is my first! Been looking for one for a long...
