    More UK civil war finds

Went back to where there was supposedly a civil war skirmish, found whats possibly a lead ingot (is lead) more musket balls than shown, and best bit of all is the lead remains from a mold, can even see bevelled edges where pistol/musket balls have been cut off.

    New straight shaft

Am looking to put a straight shaft on my red heat detector. At moment its fitted with an S type affair which I don't like, came across this handy bit of kit, cost me £45 or around $57 simply add bottom shaft, and with a little bit of work the control unit. Am ordering another for my Deus 2 as am...

    Red Heats 1st serious session

After a few hours of bench testing I've come to the conclusion that this is one of those machines that performs way better in the ground than in air. These are just a few of the control settings that I've come to understand...well nearly. 1. Iron in/out switch. This works with the...

    First beach silver

Fields far too wet due to recent rain, so got a surprise when I went to a local beach. They spend hundreds of thousands blowing sand up to bolster the defences but mother nature had other ideas. 2 high tides and a howling on shore wind and she took it all back, and then some, sixpence really did...

    Tesoro/Laser question

Can someone correct me if im wrong. I'm sure my laser power max 2 (UK model) had an external rotary control at the back of the control box, which a well known dealer told me was for the threshold. If so was this option fitted to any other models but just not visible/functional? There is a...

    Something different

Came across this on a dealers website and instantly bought it, he only put it on his site last night so was very pleased. Was actually looking for a machine with a small coil as XP are dragging their heels making an elliptical coil for the D2. These machines are hand-built, original maker passed...

    Dagger, but from when?

Wasn't expecting this, but after being told that a Viking axe head and shield boss (both iron) had been found nearby took a chance on digging a few iron targets, needs a better clean as your seeing it as found, and dating, only had a couple of hours this morning so guess where im going tomorrow!!

    D2 hits deep

Relic mode, iar 3, notch 00-02, sensitivity max, recovery 0.5 (any faster deeper targets didn't register) the tiny copper token was just the depth of the garrett probe, and was one of the targets that wouldn't register with a faster recovery speed no matter how fast or slow I swung, and its...

    Good start to the day.....not

Got permission to revisit some old permanent pastures, last time I did them was 10 years ago. Good job I hunt with controller in pocket, mount finally given up.

    Civil war ammunition

Please bear with me.. I'm detecting a site here in the UK that supposedly had a civil war (1642-51) skirmish on it. This has been documented by historians but there's no mention as to how long it lasted. There was a fortified manor/farm on the site with a moat, over the years a significant...

    Tiny silver buckle

Probably my best find of the year came up yesterday, solid silver that had been gilded, dates too late 14th early 15th century

    Deus 2 and 4khz.

Have been using relic mostly, and just of late trying deep hc, have an 11" coil fitted and yesterday for the hell of it, disciplined myself to using mono and 4khz, this threw up a few interesting variables. If I ground balance it picks up coke and hot rocks, leave gb at standard and it doesn't...

    15" minelab or coiltek?

Am looking at a well used 800 cheap as its got no coil, will not be my main detector so am just going to put a big coil on it for pasture, any opinions on which one?

    CZ 5 recovery speed

Don't expect it to be lightnng fast but have option of one with small coil.
