    Any ideas on this button?

Found this several years ago and haven't been able to figure out what the C stood for. The back reads: Charles Ruben & Co. Chicago. Date for the company was 1883 -1911. This button is an inch in diameter. Soldered shank.

Anybody know anything about this badge I found? Maybe more parts missing. The back only says Sterling. Unrelated, I also found a Chicago,St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway button.

    Possible knee buckle...

Found this buckle while tilling my garden last weekend. Seeing the points I thought of a knee buckle. It has the word SOLIDE on the part that pivots. I don't believe it's 18th century, but possibly 19th century? I found a 1838 Large Cent in my backyard a couple of years ago, so I'm thinking...

    Silver today

I've been going to a place that was torn down last fall. The house was built in 1885. Primarily my finds there have been clads and memorials. Finding old coins though is like pulling teeth. I did find a 1865 IH. With so much rain this spring my hunting days have been few, but that hasn't...

Better than a poke in the eye....

Hunted a lot that had a house on it until last fall. It was listed on the Tax assessors site as age 123 years old, although 123 can mean "a pre 1900 building, year built- unknown." Ended up with a handful of Memorials and clads. Only 2 Wheats, 1919 the oldest. What saved the day is this Sleigh...

    A scientific question.

OK all you Mr. Wizards, here's a legit question. What is it in olive oil that actually removes the crud off of coins? Is it fatty acids or perhaps something to do with olives.? If it's fatty acids then take a look at this chart. -----------------------...

Some old coins for a change.:jump:

These last 2 Sundays I've hit up a property where a 1897 house is being moved. With a flat rock foundation and no basement they've had to dig under it to place the beams and blocking. All that dirt got spread around the yard making it a little hard to find stuff. Very mineralized soil with coal...

    Various buttons.

Here's some of my more interesting 2 piece buttons. Top right is a AM District Telegraph Co. button. A British Royal Fusiliers. A CW Infantry and a replica 1792 Army.

    Some buttons.

I have to take more pics of other buttons. More later.

    Not your Fathers Oldsmobile.

Hit a small lot today that has been cleared of trees and bushes. Lots of glass and porcelain. No coins, but did unearth this Olds logo. They used this logo from 1897 to 1919. It was later revived in the '70s, but with some changes. Hope the humidity backs off so I can spend more time there...

    A token and a bonus..

Found this token today at a 1920's house that was torn down. It's the first decent thing I've found this year. It's listed in the Illinois Token book as a R6 Rare. Too bad it's messed up. I have a book of the history of East and West Dundee, with lots of pics. In it I found some pics of C.F...

For all the hunters out there...

You know how deer can hide, even when you're next to them. If you look real hard you'll be able to see the deer to the left.
