First time Water detecting. 10 cents richer.

Hello all, I bought a sand scoop a couple of years ago. Today it and my NOX 800 got wet. I can see there will be a learning curve to climb. Didn't have nearly as many targets as I had assumed. Then I had a heck of a time scooping the target. I quit on the first dozen or so targets after...

Street construction seated and friends. First attempt at water detecting.

Howdy All, It's been quite some time since I found anything worth posting. I'm up in Minnesota, came across a couple of towns with street construction projects. The 1876 dime came from a town near Minnnesota's Iron Range. Very weird detecting; few non-ferrous targets, and couldn't lock on...

Anybody have an Explorer arm rest that they aren't using?

I noticed last hunt mine was cracking. Hopefully can JB Weld. But if anyone has a dead unit or replaced theirs..... Thanks, Chris(SoCenWI)

Changed some settings for end of 2021 hunts. LC, Seated, coin spills, and friends.

Hello all, Had a couple of good hunts before 2021 ground to an end. I normally never change any settings on my Explorer XS other than sensitivity level. This time I tried changing Suppository rejection to max, and lowered BFO orientation status to the low sevens. It is also possible that...

Who goes swimming; CTX3030 or Nox800

I recently bought a sand scoop. Water levels are really low up at the lake. I have both the CTX and Nox. I've heard of water intrusion issues with both, I've never water hunted with either. My main detector is my Explorer XS, but that isn't waterproof. Opinions anyone? Thanks, Chris

1877-CC Dime to go with Seated Half and Quarter

Hello All, I went back to where I found the 1876 Seated Half last week. Only find today was this 1877-CC dime. So for year have one of three different denominations. It would be nice to pop out a Seated Half Dime before the year is up. Don't think a Seated dollar is likely. I don't...

    Seated Half made my day...

Hello All, Not much detecting going on this year. Been way too dry to dig in any lawns; limiting myself to construction sites. I heard at my local bar someone saw some construction going on in a local town. The next day I drove around the county seeing what was tore up. Very little. I did...

Seated Quarter and Shield Nickel, Long time no post.

Hello all, not sure if I've posted on the new version of this Forum. Sure did like the old style better. Just got back from a construction site in a nearby town. Wanted to see if more dirt had been moved. Too late. I found these two on previous expeditions. This is my sixth seated...

Argument with GF, how many of you buy coins for your collection, vs all found?

Hello all, I'm cataloging my 2019 finds. Everything in my collection is dug; a few folders are close to full, but I'm pretty positive I will never find all the dates for any given coin type. How about the rest of you? Am I crazy? (as GF suspects) Do any of you buy coins to co-mingle with...

One Wheat, One IH, One Barber, One V

Hello All, Went back to the site where I found two seated coins. No such luck today but a couple of nice condition coins. [attachment 370858 2019_11_24.JPG] Ground was frozen in a few places. Next few days warmer so may be able to detect for awhile. I've never posted a picture of a 1942...

5" of snow on the ground... Glad I got out yesterday.. Found a roll of pennies..

Hello All, Yesterday I went to a neighboring town to help with a chili supper. Got there too late and all the set up was done. Earlier this year I had secured permission for a older corner house in the same town. At the time I was hunting an adjoining construction site; too dry and grass too...

    Three silver, two seated day....

Hello All, Yesterday I did a little driving around, looking for construction sites in neighboring towns. Saw some sidewalk work in a local park, didn't get out of the car to survey the site. Today I went back to check it out. As usual I was too late for the best hunting, sidewalks and...

Joined the NOX crowd. Not hugely impressed, but did get my first silver dollar with it...

Hello all, I ordered and received an Equinox 800 and a six inch coil a couple of weeks ago. I've had it out a half dozen times since; mainly at sites I had pounded over the years with my XS with a variety of coils, and to a lesser extent my CTX3030. One of these sites had so many coins it...

Ground thawed a in places.. Very nice 1867 IH

Hello All, I was able to poke my screwdriver in the ground after some recent warmer temperatures. Perhaps may have a few more days of 40s here in southern WI. I was hoping to add to silver totals, but only found this IH. [attachment 363475 2018_12_15O.JPG] [attachment 363476 2018_12_15R.JPG]...

    Dime Grand Slam#3

Hello All, I just took a trip down memory lane by searching through my sixteen years of posts on Findmall. Definitely getting old. I thought this was Grand Slam#2 but I was wrong, did one in 2004 and again in 2008. Then I had to cross reference with my scribbled records to try find out where...
