1883 V nickel & relics

These recoveries are the best of the last two hunts that I did. Rustydigger, who usually meets me at this site wasn't able to make yesterday, so he missed the V nickel, 88 tag, and the smallest buckle. The medium sized buckle has a stamp on the back that looks like PATented ? 1879,,or something. V nickel rang in a steady 14 and was recovered from sandy/rocky driveway at depth of just 6 inches. Buttons have no design on front. Thimble is open-ended. Ax head rang in at 27 at base of old tree, just 4-5 of depth. Stats: relic/high density. Thanks for looking.

Awesome job the v nickle is on my list. Love the buckles :clapping:

Hey what is the thing bottom right in the buckles picture?

I think that it's some type of furniture ornament that has paint remnants on it. The top piece has a hinge on the left side allowing it to swivel in and out. There is rusty shank coming off the middle /back of the top portion, but you can't see it,it's holding the top off the bottom portion. Hope that make sense.

Awesome Ken! You smashed through the 1900 barrier with that V nickel. What a great hunt. This global warming is great for winter hunting!!!!!
Keep it up,
Bunker
