Apparently, Sweden is caught in a " media war between two ideologies.

Back around April 20, I posted an article about Sweden's decision NOT to lockdown its people and basically go about life in as normal a way as possible. At the time, they had about 1580 dead from the virus, and around 530 in ICU. The article also indicated at least 11% of Swedes had developed antibodies. The article was basically a thumbs up to Sweden's method of dealing with the virus.

Not so fast, though. A month later, ANOTHER media entity viewed Sweden's decisions NOT so smart, and came out with an opposition piece. But notice how misleading it READS. First, the headline:

" Sweden in deep economic crisis despite soft lockdown, as per capita deaths rise. "

Here's "the rise": 6.25 deaths per million inhabitants [10.3 million population], vs 5.75 deaths per million in the UK [68 million population]. (Why compare to UK?--per capita and population density, and UK is under a full lockdown) 1580 fatalities on or about April 20, 3831 roughly a month later, still lower than the UK.

Over the course of the pandemic Sweden, which reported a total 3,831 deaths as of May 20, still had fewer deaths per capita than the U.K., Spain, Italy, Belgium and France, which have all opted for lockdowns, but the Swedes have a much higher death toll than their Nordic neighbours Denmark, Norway and Finland. ***Notice that the article makes hay about this number being far higher than neighboring Finland and Norway, but they don't mention numbers "per capita," so there's a bit of a spin there as well.

But here's another figure they conveniently left out: New York City alone has a population of 8.4 million, while Sweden has roughly 10.3 million people nationwide. Even under quarantine and lockdown, NYC has had 22,976 deaths from Coronavirus to date, while Sweden's total stands at less than 4,000. The UK has about 36,000.

The economy? Well, to begin with Sweden leans far towards socialism, but " Scandinavia’s biggest economy will shrink 7 per cent this year. " 7%? we should be so lucky...…..

I guess that's significant, but does that constitute a "Deep economic crisis? How does it compare to the economy of leftwing states in the US who underwent full shutdown?

If nothing else, the second article does a good job illustrating how the media can manipulate numbers and statistics to push an idea on people.

Many previous flu outbreaks have ran their course here in the US without shutting down the economy. The real death rates if not inflated for financial gains would be nearly the same as any other outbreak. Only difference this time is the guy in the White House.

Poster #2. We here this crackpot talk, which is nothing more than "feelings" I suggest that poster #2 "cowboy's up" and does some volunteer work in a COVID-19 ward or a nursing home where the virus is. I also know that poster #2 will not need any PPE. How about it poster 2, you MAN enough?

You’re young and ignorant. You will find with age comes wisdom (although in your case I wonder). I’ve survived many more maladies hundreds of times worse than this virus and am not afraid of dying from it. Been sick many times before. Heart attacks, Cancer, open heart surgery, broken bones all much worse than the flu.

I suggest, poster #3, that you check in the past which party runs on "feelings". .. . . It most certainly is Dem/Libs... . ..right brain thinkers. If you tend to be more creative or artistic (feelings, intuition), you’re thought to be right-brained.
Repub/conservative are left brain thinkers. If you’re mostly analytical and methodical in your thinking, you’re said to be left-brained, (linear thinking, facts).
