I found this the other day and noticed the writing on it just know?

Is that a printing plate? Looks like the letters are in the reverse or negative. Cant make out the letters or words….. maybe take a piece of computer paper and try doing a trace and then hold up to a light and flip it over. If you can get the letters then you should be able to get it translated. Neat piece!!

I believe what you have is a plate for printing calling cards, These were kind of a 'social' version of a business card, with some very elaborate etiquette to go along with them, They were used through most of the 1800s and early 1900s, If you look up "social calling card" or "Victorian calling card" you'll find some interesting reading.
