Looking at old maps and aerials, I did not see any indication of structures. Curiosity got the best of me and decided to check out the area anyway. Glad I did. Snagged a rosey and an 1838 Large Cent! The large cent provided a nice soft, high tone with a target ID of 31. Thanks for looking.
Detector used: Equinox 800

Nice finds Jim!!
You just never know what a site may give up… I have sure had my surprises.
Only one more silver coin to go to get to 100…. Those war nickels don’t count…🤣😂
Come on man gimme a break 😂😂🤣

Casual field drops or was there iron on the spot? I have a few "hunch" sites as well. Well done on the snags!
HH Jeff
The large cent was at the base of a very old and dead standing tree. I didn’t hear any iron on that very spot but 2-3 feet away I hit on very large pieces of iron. So large, I lifted my coil a foot off the ground and could still clearly detect them. I hunted the area for several more hours (around and near the tree) with zero luck.

Great Find in that Large Cent. I have never pulled a US large cent yet.
Thank you. In viewing the incredible finds you make, a large cent is definitely coming to you!

I believe when one plays and also takes the time to research that gut hunches are as accurate as photos.

Jimmy for you thats a lame hunt, you can do better
