dollar coin & half same hunt

No gold or silver on this hunt. But I did find a dollar coin and a clad half in the same hunt. I don't remember doing that before and it sure increases the clad count a lot faster than finding pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters!

I was having a good time until right near the end of my hunt a stranger approached me and gave me a bad time about searching, said I was on private property. We had about a ten minute conversation and in the end, he apologized to me for giving me a bad time. I was searching on public property, not private. Told him that I fill any holes I might dig and take all trash with me. I was a little upset that someone would do that. The area I was searching was huge, there were several soccer fields and seven baseball diamonds. I scanned the area while this guy was talking to me and all I saw was two people walking a dog, the rest of the area was deserted at the time. Oh well, maybe he was having a bad day and just wanted to vent on somebody. HH

Larbear, that's a good hunt right there. Those clad halves are rare, in all the time I've been hunting I've only found one myself. Not to many people carry those halves and even less loose them when they do carry them.

I have a short fuse for people who are just looking for trouble and can't mind their own business. I admire your patience and diligence. You did the right thing and the outcome was positive. Good finds as well.

Thanks still lookin 52, yes those halves don't appear very often and the silver halves seem to hide really well. I remember when I was a lot younger my mother would send me to the store for a half gallon of milk and pay for it with a Franklin half dollar. Now those Franklins are very hard to find.

Thanks dfmike, I was really hot for awhile when he approached and was acting unfriendly, giving me heck. The area I was searching was huge, and only two other people and a dog using it. I told the guy that it was one of the reasons I had chosen that field to hunt. I couldn't possibly be bothering anyone, no one else was around, I had the whole field to myself except for two people and a dog. Maybe I was due for a confrontation of some kind. There have been several people who have given me a look of disapproval when they see me detecting, most of them don 't say anything. Good luck, keep on collecting that pirate booty!

Half dollars and dollar coins are rare finds. Too bad about the guy hassling you, some people are clueless.

Yep, that was a good hunt. I have had people come up to me and gripe. I always try to be friendly toward them but inside of me rages a volcano. I try to keep a lid on it. I have had people call the police on me and all police encounters have been positive and even to the point that the police apologizing to me for having to bother me. People like that seem to have some sort of grudge against us and can not see past that. We are actually doing a favor to them and the community by removing sharp objects that could hurt someone and scratching out a small hole and covering it back up actually helps to loosen the soil and cause the grass to grow. I know, Glad that you had a positive outcome. I guess there is one more person that was in the dark about our hobby and now has seen the light. That is good.
