After 2 weeks without detecting (not enough time), I finally got a weekend off with terrible weather. 
The rain and clouds finally moved out of the way and the sun came out last Sunday afternoon so out I went to my favorite beach. It was cold, windy and muddy but I managed to stay out for a few hours and brave the elements.
I found the usual recent clad, lots and lots of junk (mainly pull tabs and a few rusty bottle caps) and a few goodies. No gold this time although that little bling ring certainly fooled me. It must be my prettiest find this year. It could be silver underneath that plating but there is no inscription inside and it makes the ID on the F19 jump a lot so I'm thinking some type of alloy. The thing on a string is a ClioBlue bracelet of some kind which I thought was bling initially until I came home and examined it. On the side there is a tiny .925 inside a circle. It sure doesn't look like silver. The little shiny heart is also silver. No sign of the chain it must have been on. The other big ring I found right next (2 inches) to a huge hole that must have been dug by somebody else looking for something. My guess is that either they just couldn't find the target (I can just imagine the pile of wet sand they must have dug out) or the detector they were using "saw" something else and couldn't separate properly so they left the good target behind. Serves them well for digging huge holes and leaving them as is ! Anyway the ring has the inscription SS925 inside. Again I was fooled by the oxidation and thought it was junk. I thought about cleaning it to restore the silver luster but I really like it as is, darkened and imperfect. It's got character I say.
I'm surprised at all the stuff I find on a beach that has been detected by other people. The doubts I had about the F19 not being good with silver have completely dissipated. It doesn't scream when it finds a silver target in the way my F5 would but it knows it's there nonetheless.
I will try to get as many hours of detecting as I can before the big freeze hits and it's coming.
