I Gone Done Something Stupid

Sven

Well-known member
I routinely open up the pictures on my memory card in my photo editing program, then save them to my PC.
Took a couple quick pictures this afternoon for an email and I did the above.
Then send the orig pictures on the mem card to the trash bin, upon ejecting the card, my PC asks me if I want to delete them.
I click yes. No big deal, do it all the time.

Today I wasn't thinking, I automatically high lighted the the two I was working on and the other 200 taken yesterday. And hit send to trash.
Then deleted everything in the trash bin before ejecting. By the time I realized what I just did, it was too late. They were all gone.

Tried a recovery program, it came up with about 300 but, not the 200 from the day before.
And Saturday I was going to save all those photos to a file folder on my PC for safe keeping so they could be edited Monday.
Good thing they were not trip pictures, just product pictures I can reshoot.

I won't be doing that again.

Try it again after a restart and a day or two.
the recovery program may have been not reacting correctly dues to dates on the images compared to dates on the PC.

After a dy or two it may be a different result that the recoverys software then recognizes

Had a similar issue and also used a coupld of differnet pieces of software.
One found and recovered thing that the other had not recognized and then on another issue the opposite were true

The reason the recovery program cannot recover the files is that the newer pictures over wrote those older files. That is the normal procedure. When you delete a file on the card and then put new pics on the card, the old ones are gone. I always download my cards to a file on my computer as a backup just in case. You can always delete that file at a later date.

Re-shot all the pictures.......................they turned out better..............
