Well, as of today I am proud to say I am now an owner of an X-Terra 705 signed sealed and delivered thanks to Bart and http://www.bigboyshobbies.net/. I was only able to get out for just a few minutes with it but man what a lot to learn from an Ace 250, lol!!! Lot's of reading, detecting, and trial and error until I get use to it. I'm pretty sure I am going to still have a lot of questions even after reading Randy's E-book and watching youtube videos and actually detecting with it myself so please have patience with me, HA!!! Hardest part is finding clean ground to balance it on. When I say iron infested, I mean more iron than dirt, lol!!

Keep going back to Randy's book after each hunt. You'll be surprised at how much more sense it all makes once you've started swinging, and a lot of your answers can be found in it.

One of the most important things to start with and something i missed in reading is to start with the sensitivity low and move it up as you can with out getting erratic signals. Read Diggers E book on Sensitivity part several times and really understand it.

Now for Bart, we are all so lucky to have a dealer on this Forum that takes pride in helping us and making sure that we continue to LOVE this bobby of Metal Detecting.

Back to Sensitivity what threw me a loop was so many videos showing them running sensitivity at say 22 to 25 but in my area i run sometimes as low as 14 to 16 so don't go by others sensitivity settings. As in the book if it is too high you get splash backs from the signal bouncing back to the coil, so start low and graduate up until it is not stable and back off a notch or two.

Big thanks for this advice. Got out today and the detector was very "chattery", turned the sensitivity all the way down to 17 and all was good.

Welcome a board great machine you have. My daughter has a 250 and there is no comparison in my opinion. You made a good choice.

Read my post on " Almost Gave up on 705 " Check your Ground Balance by pushing the GB button while swinging and if you are in the teens you may have to go to a DD coil but if not the the CC coil will do fine.

Don't get discouraged because with practice and experience this machine will get you the good stuff.
