Had to go 850 miles north back to Iowa to get a storage unit cleaned out. Took my time to hunt my favorite site for several hours using a new machine. 1812 era home site / core of engineers stone quarry operation 1871-77. Incredibly dense iron patch that I’ve cleaned up pretty good over the years.... or so I thought
among the favorite finds are the 1852 trime and its holed. The 1845 large cent also holed. 1864 fatty Indian. An 1882 Indian. Numerous flat buttons. The best button by far being the 1800-1815 NY Militia Eagle one piece button. It was one of the first items dug by my partner with the simplex just after arriving. As well as the 1864 Indian. We were able to get 3 thimbles. I got a pin fire shotgun hull which was a first. Also like the brass rivet from an old handsaw. Stamped warranted superior with an eagle and other fancy.
I have 100s off hours in this site with the T2SE, the Gold Bug Pro, and the Vaquero. It’s amazing what came to light when the Simplex and Multi Kruzer hit the iron. We also got some great hand forged iron relics in the form of tools and horse tack. After living in coastal Bama the last 8 months, Ive dug several CW relics, but I was really missing the iron patches of the fields in Iowa. Old homesites are my thing. It was a great 2 day hunt in a pounded site with new machines. Trime is a big time and unexpected find for me.
These finds were made with the simplex and Multi Kruzer. The Kruzer is now my main machine.
