Supertraq discriminator problems...

Arctic Jack

New member
I’ve just got my hands on a Tesoro Lobo Supertraq. I’ve noticed when in discrimination mode and turning the disc dial from 0 up to 1.5 the metal detector is giving off false signals in conjunction with the turning of the dial. If the dial is left untouched between those numbers, it is constantly spluttering low level false signals.

Any advice?

I had a similar problem with a Compadre. I cleaned the potentiometer by a light spray of Deoxit D5 and air pressure drying. It cleared it up. I removed the knob, opened the housing, and sprayed into the shaft and any opening in the pot being careful not to hit the electronics and turned the shaft as I did. It has worked well since. The Deoxit also helped stop some of the static in my T2 when I cleaned the coil plug and receptacle.
