Glady you put this up. I've had mine a couple of month's and I'm having fun.
Simplex +, a far more functional and useful detector than most folks might imagine. Just needs a couple of smaller-size search coils, and if they do any updates, I sure hope it is mainly to fix a couple of minor design issues and they don't try to ake it more detector than what it already is. Just bring us a couple of useful smaller coils and every Simplex + owner should be happy enough.

Just picked up the Simplex w/ some Garrett MS2 headphones and the regular Nokta pinpointer. So far I am enjoying it. Was wondering if there is a VDI chart number by chance and any hints tips on hunting just on my homestead, settings, and which mode works best. I understand Park just uses a 3 tone method, I guess for ferrous, mid level notches, and high notches. Does that mean I should primarily just dig on the mid/high tones?

I've recently purchased mine, with the Green series headphones and the 9.5" X 5" DD Search Coil (SP24) in addition to the standard 11".
I have only played with it in my yard trying to learn the machine, quite different from my Great Ace 250! Hoping to find a used Pulsedive pinpointer to use with it!

Hi guys. Soon I am considering buying a Simplex, but I have a question. Although I have looked for information about it, it has not clarified anything.
Where I live now, it is volcanic terrain with a lot of magnetite, magemite positive and negative rocks. The ground balance is not constant. The background tone tends to fluctuate, but you end up getting used to your ear and your brain.
The metal detectors here, in discrimination mode, are not going well, so I have to use them in VCO all metal mode, with a slight hum.
My question is this:
Can I use the Simplex in all metal mode, with a slight hum in the background tone?
I know the answer is yes (according to the manual) but I go further ...
Can I adjust the volume of the background tone, regardless of the sensitivity?
According to the manual, when you turn up the sensitivity, you turn up the volume. This is the part that is not clear to me.
Can anyone check it out?
I live on an island and there are no detector shops here, so I can't do it myself.

Hi guys, I was wrong to ask this question in this thread. When I wanted to delete it, it can no longer do it, but continuing with the question I asked, I must say yes. Threshold volume and sensitivity can be adjusted separately. I already have my Nokta Simplex
Hello. Considering simplex for beach and yards. Understand you’ll pick LOTS of iron. Can I avoid so much junk without eliminating jewelry etc? New to this, 80 yrs old! Need suggestions. Thank you all. No smart reply’s please 😊

It's a beginner machine that punches above its weight into intermediate class. It's not very good at saltwater beaches (you'll be fine in freshwater though), and it will be falsing on some nails in the yards. If you can afford it, I suggest getting the Legend – you can run it as a simple "turn on and go" machine akin to Simplex, then once you learn more about it, you'll be able to mess with advanced settings without buying a new detector.
As for eliminating junk, the usual solution applies – let your ears be the judge. Don't look at the numbers, listen. Dig everything, trying to guess what it is before you dig. After about 100 hours (give or take) you'll be able to guess pretty accurately even when your machine is falsing. Once you accurately guess at least 80 junk targets out of 100, you graduate the Simplex Academy 🤪

It's funny....I got my Simplex in Spring, 2020 and went at it. Then hardly used at all last year. This year I am back and enjoying the SP24 coil and detecting my 1933 property at my leisure notching out everything under 60 while in Park 2. Why? Because I can! Found 4 wheats and a 1952 dime in past week. The silence is golden!
