Hi All
Fisrt let me say I have found some once in lifetime finds with my explorer...
Why does the explorer threshold drop off for a good find ..not the same as iron...? is this normal ?
In andy's book they do a big hoopty doo about the the ground not interring in to the equation but later in the back they say sesitivty may have to be changed due to ground mineralization...what kind of doublt talk is this?....I think that after the GNRS it was aparent t o some of YALL the limits of the manual mode ...????
I have stress cracks startying on my unit it has always been seated fully ...I guess i will wait till it bust all to hell before I send it in since I do not want to be with out the unit or should maybe start looking for a back up? Yes i have a bout 260 hours on it I would have USED it more if it would ever Rain ....here again..I aint tearing up No bodys property...
As for Mike glad you joined the ranks of minelab center fold's.....You still ugly Thou.... GRIN...
I have one O ralphs 5.5's it is Great... Nice work Ralph ...it is hard to hunt with anything but his little black bugger...It is mean in trash ..
If any one can tell me about the treshold thingy I would appreciate it understand that I have tried all sensitivity levels from 1 -32 ... and iron will cause a longer shut down ..

Jim not sure I know what you mean by drop off on the threshold, you mean that thump you sometimes get on the ends of a good signal?

HI Jim
Thanks for the fast responce....
My unit I can take a coin and throw on the ground and it will have a treshold but the treshold will break for afew microsecounds before the high pitch ...the break will be before and after... this has caused me more than alttle confusion....
like a quick null..not like a iron null I wish yall would try it to see if got a circut problem it works pretty dang good thou....just knda Nags me readn all yall's post ..
Thanks Again
Jim Pugh

you know I never noticed it, but will try today, most of my sites have so much iron I seldom have a constant threshold so maybe that is why I dont remember it...will report back later, might have to try it in the field before dark <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">

Hi Jim, It seems that threshold has been a great concern to many people in the past. I beleive that people are over analyzing the threshold problem. I seldom hear the threshold at all when I hunt because I discriminate out 90% of all targets. This allows me to only be concerned with the depth of a target because 99% of signals I get are diggable targets. The problem you are describing may be caused by a piece of trash sitting very close to a good target. The machine is trying to null out the trash and give a signal on the target, both at the same time. Hope this helps. Richard

I wonder if Jim's talking about the multi-blips you get when the both edges of the coil go over the target??? Especially if he gets it when he tosses a coin on the ground. In normal buried targets this is seldom a problem but can be noticable on shallow targets.
HH ... Gord.
