x-terra shaft mod

argyle

New member
Thought I might post up some pics on the way I changed the set up on the x-terra 30. The original shaft design was too uncomfotable for me with a too wide and skinny armrest, with the strap on it was alright but I hate being strapped in to a coin detector, and the handgrip I did not take to at all.
I nearly came undone though as I could not get the inside sleeve for the detector box out of the handgrip so I left it in and asked the guy that did the aluminium welding just to tack it in four spots, so the heat would not melt the sleeve. He forgot and welded it all round, melting the sleeve. But with a bit of re-smoothing I could fit the detector box in.......just!!!!.

I used a Minelab upper straight shaft and M/L PI handgrip with an armrest from an early M/L vlf gold machine, very similar to the armrest on a musky.
