    JCR, thanks for the reply. I don't think it is from a roofing nail because it's about 1.5 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick.

    It's got me puzzled. It weighs 412 grains but the diameter is hard to pin down. Around .60-.70 caliber. It's totally warped. It was white before I got hold of it with CLR.

    Best I can figure is a .60 cal and weighs 414 grains. It's next to a regular drop .58 mini ball. The base may be carved.

    Found in field where there old house sites and civil war activity. Diameter is 2.67". The inner circle is threaded.
