Legend in modern trash

Both guys failed to test it with a 6" coil to make sure that it's a signal processor and not the coil at fault… So I did just that. And yes, a 6" coil is blinded by foil just as much as 11" one. It's actually getting even better than that: if you put a quarter that reads 50 between pieces of foil that read 15, the final result often reads… 11. That's not your vanilla averaging, that's a big fat bug right there.
Should be easy enough to fix though.

I've just replaced the high conductor in this experiment with a gold ring, and results are exactly the same. Including 4 kHz's newfound "magic" ability to unmask the target.

Now I'm curious.
Have you tried this with the Simplex ?
I'm gonna have to try it with a few of my other machines.

Sort of turns the legend into a "diggers" machine.
4k might be a better choice in my areas anyway , another update is terrifying.:)
Couldn't resist doing the same test with the etrac and 11" coil. I don't have a "Legend 15" but found a 14 and put it next to a quarter. With about an inch separation the etrac gives a lovely high tone but slightly averaged number about 44 from all directions definitely a signal for digging. Close the gap and the numbers average down into the low 30s(big gold country) and a wonderful concert of tone mixtures and yells coin spill or necklace ,,,,,,,,dig it for sure.

I too , hope NM takes notice

We're these flat or balled up pieces of aluminum ?
Other than globs of aluminum from bonfires and cans. Usually the aluminum is in an odd shaped ball. At least most of what I dig.

I wouldn't be surprised if NM comes out with a simplex update for this other wise they'll lose future sales of it. When, thinking positive, they figure out the legend's problem then it should be similar to the simplex's.

That's bad news for me. Lot's of aluminum globs on our Beach's here on lake Erie.
At the beach I dig everything down to 7 or 8, unless I'm in a hurry. That's how you find chains and small jewelry. That's how you find Aaron.

I went for the "worst case scenario" and used 2 flat pieces of cooking foil about 1.5x1.5" in size (VDI 10). For VDI 15, I used round foil seals (about 2" dia) that I forgot to dump from my pouch after the last hunt.

Where I hunt on campus is lots of 11 grunts that so far have been foil in different shapes and wads. I’ve been digging especially since seeing the youtube where the guy points out missing gold items that ID at 11. One reason I guess NM changed the break from 10 to 11.
Well whats an outing with tabs and foils……

Well, I see calabash has another video up , basically a rehash of what TN sharpshooter already shown... I'm no technical engineer so I couldn't imagine if it's a easy fix or makro is gonna have the whole r&d on it,,but I'm sure calabash has made them aware of the issue..lol ..Not a bad thing, him pushing them all into fixing it.
On another note, running 1.08 and was pulling wheats and clad today from a ballfield I've pounded for years, stock coil .Glitch or no glitch this legend runs great

I put a clad quarter in between 2 pieces of foil approx the same size….The foil on each side was about 1 inch away….I couldn’t read the Quarter…..moved the foil 2 inches away on each side and was able to hit the quarter……This was using the 6 inch coil in M1…It didn’t make a difference adjusting the recovery speed…

Pretty much impossible to find gold without digging Al. The legend needs a "round sound" like the etrac and CTX , at least it cuts the numbers somewhat.
So thats what i was thinking.
This is really only an issue if you are coin hunting for the most part ?
I don’t hunt coins because its just clad here and it just doesn’t internet me. If i come across it i will take it but not look for it.
I look for jewelry and just anything interesting so for jewelry and odd stuff you basically dig everything or mostly in all metal. Numbers don’t mean anything to me. Call me an ofd duck, thats why i always used basically beep and dig machines, sovereign gt without number display, excalliber again no display, tesoro same thing.
To me the screen is just to look at and adjust settings vs having knobs and making it waterproof at the same time.
So is it really worth it for me to update if they do have a fix for that ? Seems that it would pick up the foil so dig and find the quarter anyway or if the foil wasn’t there it would have seen the quarter anyway.
The way i see it. So basically if you are hunting in AM and digging pretty much everything is it going to make a difference to update?
Because the updates seem to be a bit tedious to do especially if it has no bearing on the end result

I think that there are nuances in the older machines that the newer machines can’t replicate….I’m a lot more accurate with an old Soveriegn simply because I used one for years, and the tones/nuances were much more telling….I think that this holds true for ALL the newer machines vs older ones….One pretty much has to rely on numbers with these newer machines….The newer machines are surely more quiet than the older ones !….

I expected more in terms of how the newer machines (including the Legend) handled masking…I’m looking for improvements and hope NM is able to figure this out

Analog machines had the ability to blend tones to a degree. So much information there. The only detectors I have used that were digital that seemed to have that ability are the etrac ,CTX and White's "spectra" machines. Explorers as well although I haven't used one but heard too many say their tones were the best ML ever came up with. They weren't able to carry that over in the NOX nor did NM or Deus.
