Sometimes I get caught up in life and don't make it by too often... I spent some time this evening reading down through the recent posts and found some rockin' photos from old timers and newbies alike! That's great to see!.. I was able to spend some time with my new grandbaby recently... I've...

I haven't been by too much lately but you guys have been posting some really nice photos! I don't take the time to comment on each one like I should but I have seen some great shots! I sold my Digital Rebel XTi the other day without meaning to... It's my backup camera to the EOS-40D so I had...

Night shot of the local dam...

We have a river that runs through the center of our town and there is a lot of attention being paid to the dam because in the next year or two, it is going to be replaced... The powers that be are trying to figure out the most cost effective way to replace it but in the meantime it just sits...

    So far; so good!

I haven't been able to be out and about to play with my new camera very much so far. Too much time spent at work as we're switching to a new manufacturing software shortly and a combination of other obligations. I did take Friday off though and took a drive up into Door County. If you're not...

    Small subjects...

I am getting excited because my tracking info shows that I will get to meet my new EOS-40D tomorrow! I hope we get to be friends quickly!! Lol... I got to thinking about whether I will keep or sell my current XTi and pulled it out and took a few photos... This is a 1/24th scale 1940 Ford...

Infiltrating an inner city duck gang...

We have a gang of homeless ducks that roam the river banks in a small town nearby during the winter months... They hold up tourists for small scraps of bread and popcorn! I was able to infiltrate the gang using only a few pretzel scraps!... Lol... Bob

    Lensbabies?

I have selected a new camera (EOS-40D) and while researching it and shopping for it, I came across something I'd not seen before. I thought that I would post it for you guys to check out in case you've not seen it either. They are a creative lens called a "Lensbaby"... Go to...

    Playing with some free software...

I took this photo a few weeks back. It is a photo of the water above the dam in the river that runs through the middle of my town. It was a long exposure late evening shot. I manipulated it with some software that I downloaded of the 'net and then saved it as a .gif. Interesting effects... I...

    Lightbox photos...?

My current project is building a lightbox for use in taking "product type" photos... I sell a few things on eBay and I have always wanted to be able to improve the quality of my listing photos. I also want to take on the challenge of this type of photo. So far I have built the framework out...

    Salvaging a photo..

My son recently married his best friend... She happens to be the mother of his child... (They did the marriage/baby thing out of order..) I had taken a photo of Mother and child that actually was a bit out of focus and not what I considered a good photo. I felt really bad because I just loved...

A trip gone awry and sunflowers..

On the weekend I headed up to Hayward,Wisconsin, to see the National Lumberjack Finals. Plans got mixed around and I arrived later than anticipated and events were sold out... So instead of lumberjack event photos, I ended up shooting some photos in a huge sunflower field. I've knocked this one...

I had to belly crawl through the tall plains grass for hours to get these shots...

Ok.. I didn't have to actually crawl, and the grass was mowed, but i do have some allergies.. Lol.. A couple of shots from a small town zoo.. It's much cheaper to keep a bunch of p'dogs than elephants! [attachment 61925 IMG_0924.JPG] [attachment 61926 IMG_0928.JPG] [attachment 61927...

    Just another dam photo...

Lol... I rec'd my new 17-85 lens and wanted to see how much the image stabilization helped out. I took some photos at dusk of a few things here in town. One of them is the dam in the river that runs through the middle of town. I was amazed that i could hand hold a shot like this with an...

Some of the things you see when you don't have the right lens!...

I was out and about on the weekend and came across a woodcarver in Friendship, WI. He has a unique approach to carving and really enjoys what he does... This particular work is carved from a single log and overall is taller than me! The man's body is hollow and the bison actually does have...
