    I dug a eagle button yesterday that instantly fell apart in my hand. Someday they'll all be a brass matrix in the ground. Good saves buddy.

    I got out relic hunting New Year eve. I found a US box plate & three eagle buttons. Good way to end a pretty good year. I found these on the retreat from Gettysburg. Its been at least 25 years since I've found a box plate. Happy New Year.

    John Reynolds stayed at a inn very close by the night before the battle. Im lucky to have permission.

    Its a big area. They dumped lots of stuff at this spot. Big camps. Im thinking 1864. Laying waste to the Shenandoah valley.

    I don't find many type 3 Williams Cleaner bullets. Most all of my spots are Gettysburg campaign or earlier. This spot is later than mid 1863 because the typ 3 Cleaner bullets weren't used til mid 63.

    No buddy Its not my first Gardiner explosive. Its the first at this spot. Ive recovered quit a few relics in this area. Yes I was using a pulse machine. The sword hanger came from a cavalry action I have permission to search.

    I found these last weekend. The Gardiner explosive bullet is very rare. A regiment in 3rd corps Army of the Potomac had them. The Federal government only bought 110,000 of two calibers during the whole war.
