New V3i Owner in AZ, looking for other users who can teach me.. I belong to the GPAA and would like to go nugget hunting in Arizona.

If you're looking for smaller gold, use your smaller coil... If your looking for bigger and deeper pieces, use your bigger coil. Always use the highest frequency.

    spectra v3i vs minelab

Albert, please continue all of your metal detecting quests. I enjoy your posts and videos... (especially when there's a dog in them ) Considering the reasonably short amount of time you've owned the V3i, the amount of research and study you've accomplished is nothing short of amazing...

    Fake detectors

It's funny because they are sensitive thieves too. When I was in China they got mad at me for taking photos of their fake products. It makes it hard to take photos because almost everything (of western origin) in China is counterfeit. What a huge difference in cultures. Here in the US...

    spectra v3i vs minelab

Quote: I do not want to bash companies just some good info about the v3i The V3i uses 3 frequencies at the same time. No other machine will do that. Because of that, I think it's the best machine on the market.

    Back to the relic field

Schultzie,I think if that bullet could talk it would say "I'm glad that guy got his leg sawed off with a dull blade because he made me deaf and sore from all of that screaming and biting! Seriously, that stuff needs to be in a museum... Wow!

Anyone getting ran off from city or county parks???

In California (and maybe other states, I don't know) we have a Non-Profit organization called 'Public Lands For The People'. If somebody harasses us on public land, we politely ask them for their Name, Badge #, Position,Agency and District then we submit the Date,Time and Location to...

    alcatraz!!

I found a guy selling one for $50 on the web. He says it a guards key tag. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5067/5696369198_505da7592f_z.jpg Interestingly, I also found out that Alcatraz had walk-thru metal detectors way back in 1933. Here's a link to the key tag...

    which one?

I have an X-Terra 705 and a V3i. I believe these the two can't really be compared. The V3i's and VX3's are for serious metal detecting professionals. The 3 frequencies, the color screen and all of the hunting variations really set them apart from the rest of the pack. The 705 is easy to learn...

    Auto Settings

I wish they would make as much as possible automatic. Just turn it on, set the threshold, wave it up and down then scan over the soil for an automatic perfect maximum depth settings, the frequency with the least noise, best RX gain etc. Since iron sometimes reads a higher VDI before cancelling...

    Auto Settings

I think the V3i is the best detector in the world. No doubt about it. That's why I bought it. I also think it's the most complicated. Complicated to the point of diminishing returns. I also have a Minelab X-Terra 705 that I just won in a contest. I spent just 3 days reading some threads on...
