    These Classics never fail!!!

My wife and I don't get out much but this last weekend we were able to get out on a group outing where there was many good finds. Barber quarter, 1916s merc., Indian heads, tokens, hotel key tag, and lots of other miscellaneous neat "junk". Unfortunately we didn't find ALL the good things but we...

    Mine remnants

This here is a site we visited a couple of years ago. There are buildings scattered all over the area with an occasional tire, stove, car, or some other junk, thrown over the hillside

Good finds on a rare outing

I was fortunate to stumble upon a piece of property where I took my good ole detecting buddy Monte today. Actually I didn't take him, we met there bright and early in the morning. Right off the bat I knew it was going to be good. By the time I went home for a lunch break and to pick up my wife...

Can anybody help ID this button? It's about 1/2" in diameter. 2 piece button. I haven't cleaned it up yet nor have I scanned either side but if this would be helpful I'd do that. Thank you

I had no idea, but at one of the sites we stopped by Mark Twain lived at just before moving to Virginia City. Very fun find

    From thriving to starving

Here's a town we visited in 2007 that had a huge population at one time and now only has one single farm way off in the distance. Quite impressive remains

2 signs you don't want to see while out and about

While these signs are comical to see when you come across them, you can be rest assured these roads are frequently not fun to travel. Not fun at all

    Gone but not forgotten

About 2 miles from where the helicopter wreckage was we came across a grave site at the side of the road, not 10 feet off the side of the road. With this location Mr. Patterson will certainly not be forgotten.

    Back from a long vacation

Out in the middle of nowhere north central Oregon, we came across a site of about a 2 year old or so helicopter crash. It was very strange that the remains were never carted out as it appeared as though the pilot could not have made it out alive. However, if there was no other option than to...

    I have no idea wheresville

Who knows where we were other than Oregon, but in 2005 we stumbled across this brokedown palace which had a family cemetery in the immediate vicinity. Neat stuff

    City of Rocks, Idaho

I believe this is a National Park. Very neat rock structures throughout the park and plent of hiking trails to explore.

    Button ID help please

Buttons are not my thing at all. I never find them, almost ever... unless they're glass surface buttons. Today I found something that might be relatively old but not knowing anything about them I have no idea. Any help on history of this thing would be great appreciated. There is no makers mark...

Sheep Rock - John Day, Oregon

Where dinosaurs used to roam, the Sheep Rock Unit is quite the little museum to see. If you want to see paleontologists at work revealing ancient skeletons, this is the place to be.

    Town Long Gone

Our favorite thing to do is visit areas that no longer exist. While some people would rather be in Hawaii, Mexico, or on a cruise, we'd rather be in the desert surrounded by peace and quiet. This is a town that use to see lots of activity during the mid 1800s to early 1900s and as with so many...
