    Another plumbing question...

Just installed a new washer and the solenoids shut so quick that I got a severe water hammer thunk coming from under my house in the crawl space. I saw that the two long water lines feeding my washer are hung on copper hangers but are in no way constrained 'up' or laterally. I added some wood...

Sovereight XS versus Elite verus GT

It appears that the Sovereign XS comes available once in a while but the used GT's are tough to find online. What are the important differences between these machines? The GT has "Iron Mask" but isn't that already in place on the XS when set at zero discrimination? If you want to relic hunt...

F75 LTD in a Bed of Aluminum

There is so much discussion about hunting in an area infested with nails but I need advice as to your technique when hunting in a bed of aluminum. I usually hunt with low disc settings but the detector sounds like a machine gun if run like that. I figure I'll try running DISC=50 with a notch...

    Look at the Classifieds Recently?

Appears to be a lot more WTB than items for sale! I claim: "The Recession is Over!"

The V3 Video is Ready and Here!!

Hey Daniel, good job with the video! Are you able to hunt the same site with an F75-LTD? I'd be interested in your opinion of that machine running in the new "BP" mode. Keep up the good work.

Huge find for me... to clean or not to clean?

Found with the F75 LTD and 5" DD at the site of an old church in the Upsate of SC right next to the building with iron everywhere! The color is a very dark gray that doesn't look like typical dug silver. It appears to grade VF/VG. Hmmm, maybe some time in my electrolysis bath will help...

A group of 1858 Indian Head Pennies

Not a ground find but a mystery to me nonetheless, I picked these up at an estate auction near Asheville, NC at the site of a very old house. I've looked at them under a stereomicroscope and I can't see any tooling around the date; they appear to be original. These pennies were in an ancient...

Top of the Line, a Decade at a Time?

In your opinion, what were the top-of-the-line hobby oriented metal detectors sold in: 1960 1970 1980 1990 2000

F75 LTD and Me, in My Dirt

I now believe that the LTD can be run with a near silent threshold, with moderate to heavy discrimination in BP mode, and still get the same depth as the Explorers (my hertofore depth leader), in my red clay dirt. I can't say the same for your dirt, but it works that well for me. Yesterday I...

    LTD in red clay?

Can anyone share their experience using an F75 LTD in the red clay found in NW South Carolina, NE Georgia or Virginia?

    What Would We Find Here?

A recent article about the medieval city of Ani, located in East Turkey, was written in the recent edition of Newsweek: http://www.newsweek.com/id/214837 This story caught my interest, especially after I read a little further http://www.world66.com/europe/armenia/ani/history : "At Ani...

    F75: DE / Disc = 0 / Tone = DP / Sens = "medium"

I tried this setting yesterday and was pleasantly surprised! The key was setting the sensitivity so low that when the coil was held in the air, you would hear a tick or pop only every second or two. The DP tone really made the deep silver "ring" (kind of Explorer-like) and the Sens=0 seemed to...

    Season has Ended for Me

Here in the Upstate of SC, we've had virtually no rain since June, as we've had the 4th worst drought since 1898. Consequently, you can't dig more than 1" in our hardpacked clay. Waiting for rain...

Testing... quarters , a dime, V3 D2 and other things...

If your ground is sopping wet, a freshly buried silver coin should be fairly representative of an older buried coin. The silver coins don't corrode very much so don't provide the 'halo' that you'll find with iron or copper.
