    Electronic gold tester

I have seen these electronic gold testing kits marketed for upwards of $100-400, from the outside they don't look like much. Being a former electronics student, I believe there can't be much sophistication to them. Does anyone know of a kit or schematic available so that I can make my own (for...

    Trashy areas and sniper/scorcher coils

Ok, I have been hunting a particular park which has a VERY trashy area. I'm talking 3-4+ hits per swing and targets bunched together. This spot is near the picnic area, and I have witnessed on occasion the lawnmower man shredding cans left there by littering buttfaces. (I clean these up before...

    Hoops will be shot

Found this little gem on a 2 hour hunt at my new favorite park. Also found 3 wheats, '56, '56, 51 (not pictured) [attachment 103177 DSC01072.JPG] [attachment 103178 DSC01073.JPG]

    First Merc! + 3 wheats!

Tried out a new local park today, and spent about a good 4 hours there. The 4th coin I found was a '29 Merc! Also in the mix was 3 wheats, '44, '52 and '56. I'm lucky if I find a silver dime once a month, and a wheat twice a month. Today was a good day :twodetecting: [attachment 102649...

Unexpected detector arrived in the mail today.

Months ago, I ordered the Harbor Freight pinpointer. I had a couple of notices that it was on backorder, and the last wanted me to return the card if I still wanted it. I forgot to send it, so I figured it wouldn't come. Today it arrived, I put the supplied 9v in it and air tested it...

    More keys, silver & ring.

The park that keeps on giving produced some more gems today. A fistfull of clad, one silver '64 roosevelt, a complete set of keys and a gold plated ring with the letter A. The '64 chimed in at a solid 9 on the 2500, and was about 4" deep. [attachment 102305 aring.jpg]

Relic hunting in my backyard - Mysterious white powder?

Dug these up at about 1' down (hoping for a nice size E cache, and not a pile of scrap metal) [attachment 101694 relic1.jpg] Using the Ace (It fit down in the hole better), and still getting signals, a couple more inches and hit a cache of white powder. The best guess I have is talc...

Kept digging and didn't find the car......

...... that this door handle was attached to. I cleaned the backside, and didn't find any markings. I'm guessing 50's to early 60's or possibly even earlier. Any help? [attachment 101608 DSC00968.JPG] BTW- This rang in at 9 - 9+, B-C sized on the 2500

Time for a new digger :stretcher:

Due to the lack of rain the past few weeks, the ground below has become tough as nails. My fiskars garden knife did not make the cut. Now it's time for a real man's digger! Is the Kellyco Gator digger really worth $30 more than the Lesche 85 from Predator tools?

    Gold issues with 250 & 2500

I recently gathered a few genuine gold items to bench test with my detectors. Running in jewelry mode/stock level sens: It picked up a 5 gram 14k ring with a repeatable tone in the nickel range, the same with a 10k/4 gram ring. A 12 gram 14k bracelet, fell just below the jewelry notch to...

    '27 wheatie

Day 4 out with my GTI, went to a park close by and hit the soccer field. Dug lots of size b aluminum scrap, 0.18 total coinage. I got home to look at my finds, and there was one seriously corroded penny. It was greenish, so I didn't suspect a zinc memorial, a little toothbrush action and at...

    GTI 2500 first impressions

I received my GTI2500 this weekend, and took it out on the hunt. I first hooked up the 12" coil and set it up on default coin mode. In no time, I was plucking coins from the earth at my favorite hunting ground! The detector is quite a bit heavier than the Ace250, so it will take some getting...

    One of those "ewww" finds.

I got an iffy dime signal and dug it up. It was the tip of what appeared to be an artist's paint tube. I saw the rest of the tube in the hole, and unrolled it. It read "Hemorrhoid Cream" This was in the middle of a park. What one would need with the creme in the center of a park I do not want...

I just need about a few hundred million to develop it :bouncy:

Introducing the GroundScan 1000: [attachment 99414 gs1k1.jpg] Featuring a 24" LCD display protected by a bulletproof polycarbonate overlay, perfectly visible in direct sunlight. GroundScan 1000 will let you see what is in the ground in real time. Simply roll over the area to take a peek into...

Coin popping - I think I have it down now!

I've been reading a post here and there about popping coins straight out of the ground without digging holes and didn't see much of an explaination, so today I procured myself an 8" small flathead screwdriver and headed to the park with my trusty Ace250 to try it out. [attachment 99221...
