    DFX vs XLT

I believe any V rated coils, such as MX series will work on the DFX.

    Not detecting but still finding!

That’s where a track will stand up on bad soil instead of sink in like rubber tires. Put a bucket on the front and try to use it to pull it forward. Otherwise it’s going to take a tow truck or another machine to get that out. Have you run a detector over that mud?

    Yellow Stuff

There is a limit to depth with even the best and most expensive detectors. Even the Minelab GPZ7000 is only good for a couple of feet or so on large nuggets. I personally can’t see spending 6k for a gold detector. ROI is going to take a while. The new detector should be around 2k. Detectors...

    Yellow Stuff

There’s a new pulse induction detector that’s not available in the states, “yet”. I’ll be getting an update soon from a tester using one just south of Idaho. Seems to be as sensitive to smaller gold nuggets as the Garrett Axiom with more coil (after market coils) than the Axiom. PI detectors...

    I'm Back!

Under a grand, go with the Legend with extra coils. Over a grand and for submerging completely in salt water the Excalibur is still hard to beat. There has been some leaking issues with the Manticore.

    Not detecting but still finding!

We only got about 6 inches around Boise area. Well that’s what she said, lol.

    Not detecting but still finding!

Yep, that Texas bull shit. We have our share down here too. Most is melted now to the point where I can detect.

Taking Friend Metal Detecting for Her First Time, I was Rewarded.

Reminds me years ago of a gal on Folly Beach in Charleston SC. She a had nice brand new Whits 3vi detector with headphones. She was wobbling along swinging it 4 inches off the sand like a clock pendulum humming to herself. I started to give her some pointers or my card and let her know I’d be...

    My first hunt of 2024

That turned out to be a good MXT hunt after all. Great little coil too.

    Anyone using a 18" X 4" Arrow on the V3i

Never ran one on the V3i but did try a big foot coil on the MXT and MX5 both running 13.8 kHz. As i recall the depth dropped after about 5-6 inches but it covered a lot ground. Seems like pin point was only half the coil.

    Eagle pin recovery

I’m thinking early to mid 1900s. Used to live in Summerville and I’ve found similar looking finds. Check with an old down town jewelry store In Charleston.

    Old Church 1847-1853

You may be correct on the lamp part. I’ve found similar lamp parts from a home site dating back to the 1700s in Summerville SC. Determine or guess where the rear of the church would have been. Many old homes and plantations in SC had areas where trash was deposed of behind the building. If you...
