    Rare opium tin box

Sometimes, we bring all our metal home and we are so busy digging it up, we don't really realize what we've rescued from history. Such is the case today, when it seemed to be an uneventful day out in the sunshine. That is, until I got home and went through my finds. I went back to my honey hole...

    Not Always Bucketlisters

So I thought I'd post some of my finds from today, to show you I find average stuff too. Not everything I dig is a bucketlister. The seated dime I posted the other day, doesn't happen often. I dig a lot of pull tabs, bottle caps, pop cans, and misc. trash. Because you never know what you have...

3rd Seated Coin For Me, 1887S

Here's a link to the short dig clip I took with my GoPro3.https://youtu.be/I8-v_sHhyZ0 I haven't posted anything for a long while. I've only dug three seated coins in my life, so when this one popped up I was surprised. Just 10' off the main trail. so excited, great detail too. Pictures coming...

    Today's Dig, A Mix

As soon as I started on this sidewalk tear out, a carpenter bird dogged me and was baffled with what I was doing. I did not get in his way, or was anywhere close to where he was working. He just seemed to think someone swore him in as the sidewalk police. He started by telling me it was private...

More gold in me path! Must be the Luck O the Irish?

Not sure why I'm finding so many gold rings lately? But maybe because I'm still digging all the pull tab signals? Found it with my other DFX300 and a standard 8"coil. It rang in at 20 on the VDI and is 9K. Or .375 as it's marked. As soon as I dug it, a cook from a local dining hall came out to...

    Historic Military camp pistol found!

I recently dug this totally encrusted boot sized pistol from an old military location. I may someday use electrolysis on it and see what's inside. Go get you some!

    from DFX to V3i

I use both detectors, the DFX and the V3i. V3i has become the goto machine and the DFX has usually another size coil on it, like the 4x6 shooter or super 12. Although the V3i is heavier. I use the polar plot on the V3i to distinguish bottle caps, they are always giving me a flat pattern. saves...

A Little Silver and a Little Gold

The gold streak continues! I Hit an estate sale on Friday with my wife and didn't find much to mention, but I asked the lady if I could detect the property, it was on the lake and it looked Old! She said yes. Woot! I can't tell you how many times that has worked out for me, but more often than...

Back on the board with silver from the tot lot

Yep, .925 from the tot lot. I haven't found anything of significant value in the tot4 lots before, but today was a good day. This looks like Art Deco style to me and it rang up 81 on the DFX, with the standard 8" coil. I bounce back and forth between the V3i and the DFX. Sometimes I'll cry the...

    Silver quarter surprise!

Here's a short clip finding the 1939 silver quarter. https://youtu.be/NutCuz-jZpc I also found a 1915d wheat and a 44 wheat. Otherwise I found this Jaguar type d hot wheels from England. The ironic part of the story was, I was detecting in the back yard of my local coin dealer. Imagine how...

    Heart Motors Key Fob!

This was also a great find, it appears from my research, Heart Motors was in business in CDA in 1925-27. My friend says it's a key fob, I'm not so sure. What I do know is it's rare and desireable. I love to dig history and I have a deep desire for passion over profit. But money helps.

Today's short dig, silver, dog tags, pesos, and wheats

Here's a couple of shots of Today's unusual short dig, 36 silver, dog tag, 9 pesos, and 8 wheats, ranging from 1920-57. But most of the wheats were from 29-40. I'm excited about the dog tax tag from 1931. At first I thought it said 81 or 91, but with a little closer inspection, it became...
