    Field finds from Friday....

Had some fun in a farm field yesterday. 1838 half dime was the best find! Also glad to get some buttons! The little coin is an 1881 2 1/2 C from Columbia. Neal

My uneducated guess is that it's "2nd Artillery" and my other uneducated guess is that it's U.S. but what era are we looking at here? C.W., W.W.1? Thanks for your help, Neal

Ever find a ring this big???

This ring is 1.5 inches in diameter and was sold as a sovineir by the Texas Giant Jim Tarver back in the 1930's to supplement his circus sideshow income. Jim was 8 feet 6 inches tall and died at an early age of 35 from diabetes. When I dug this ring it was dark and I was sure it was just a piece...

    Park finds from Wednesday...

It rained off and on all day but I managed to get over some goodies between the showers. The ring is silver and the button is fairly new. Sure was good to get out and dig again. HH Neal

My Oldest U.S. Silver Coin To Date!!!!!!!

After doing some bottle digging at one of my favorite farm field sites I turned on my detector and made a few passes down some corn rows. It wasn't long before I got a shallow penny/dime signal and when I looked down I could see this beauty sitting on top of the ground. The chisel plow pulled...
