    considering the cheap alloys and plastics, and the generic electronics that go into most detectors, are they way overpriced? i imagine that the end cost of a mass produced detector that retails for $400-$700 is probably under $100. the chinese would make them for half that. units that cost...

    i went to dick smith electronics today, and there was a myriad of headphones. sanyo, well known brands etc. ranging from $10 to $100. are these headphones ok for the compadre, or must they be metal detector specific?
