    Could this be a meteorite?

Yeah, didn't think the density was high enough as well. Still cool and interesting though. Thanks.

    Could this be a meteorite?

I was wondering if I could get an opinion on if this could have a good chance of being a meteorite. Has a weight of slighty over 52.5 grams. It's only about 2 1/4 inch long (longest point) and only a 1/2 inch wide. Highly magnetic (small neodymium magnet will stick on the side of it). Fourth and...

Identification assistance: What is this rock/ore?

Unfortunately, don't have a detector/handheld pinpointer to know for sure. I was rock hunting/ rock hounding when I found it. But if it's metal, I'm guessing only a fraction of it contains metal or a light metal. I only got around a 2.7 g/cc density rating for it despite being slightly over 2 lbs.

Identification assistance: What is this rock/ore?

I actually didn't use a metal detector to find it. I had dug less than 1' in depth to find it. There were other pieces that were a fraction of the mass of this one. All of the smaller pieces looked broken and not as fully intact though.

I found it in northern Georgia, U.S. In the city of Dawsonville.

Identification assistance: What is this rock/ore?

It has an overall shimmer, almost like a metal, but also resembles granite in a way. It's non-magnetic and weighs about 2 1/4 lbs. Somewhat brittle but hard to cut into.
