Review of coiltek 10x5 with Equinox 900

I have a 900 - not able to use much as I had a surgery and now weather is an issue.
What appeals to me about the 10x5 is small coil separation and yet a reasonable size footprint, as compared to the 11” and 6”. Thinking about getting one, but not until I put enough time in on the 900 to convince me it’s a keeper. Superficial use tells me it is

As I just bought a WM 09 module I’m going to hold off till spring to get one, unless a good used one comes along that I can’t pass up

I'm thinking about the Coiltek for my 700 because of the conditions at my biggest permission. It was an event venue from the late fifties 'til four or five years ago. Grandstand, fences and buildings were demolished so it's vacant land now. The problem is the variety of junk. Bottle caps, pull tabs, aluminum cans, foil and all the normal junk would be challenge enough but this ground is full of aluminum shards, aluminum screws, steel/iron nails, nuts and bolts. It also has several electric conduits and water pipes at eighteen to twenty-four inches down. I've found a 1923 silver dollar in great shape, a couple of silver dimes and a few wheat pennies as well as several dollars in clad, but only one piece of crusty jewelry. There HAS to be some gold and more silver in the dirt so I want to find any advantage I can get my hands on. Is it worth trying the Coiltek?
 
DiggerJames, If you are hunting with the stock 11” coil, I feel the 5x10” Coiltek will help you.

That's what I'm thinking, now if I can find one in stock somewhere. Been using the six inch, too and it helps with the separation but I can't cover much territory with it.

I love the stock 11” coil and has found me many nice old coins, jewelry and relics. It was difficult for me to take the stock coil off to hunt with the Coiltek 10x5. The biggest surprise was the WL half dollar. An area of around 150sf, (maybe a bit less then that) I hammered with the 11” stock coil in multiple directions. Many hours were spent on this area due to past finds with the 11”. I figured this little area would be the perfect place to test the coiltek 10x5. The Coiltek didn’t disappoint! With its smaller foot print and laser precision, I was amazed at the good targets it plucked out. The half dollar was sandwiched in between junk targets however the Coiltek sniffed it out. I will admit, before I even arrived at the hunting site, I had my doubts about the coil. I thought to myself, “How much of a difference can this coil truly make? “I’m probably wasting my time, but I’ll give it a shot…” The 10x5 surely proved to me the difference!
 
I think I’ll get the 10x5 before too long. I wanted and got the WM 09 first so I can use lighter headphones which means more to me now. My only concern with the 10x5 is that I’d be using that all the time as an all around coil and rarely use the 11” or 6” out of convenience, and the 11” is better for open spaces, and the 6” maybe better in iron loaded sites. I do think it’s a PiA changing coils though. It does seem that people using the Coiltek 10z5 are quite happy with it.

Small Coil is MONEY! My primary coil on many spots. Waiting for my Manticore small to be delivered

I got the 10x5 for my 700 a couple of weeks ago and my experience with it is mixed. The darned aluminum shards sound like coins and silver so I need to figure how the settings I need to minimize that aggravation. Any suggestions?
