using bone conduction headphones with legend

jimmy clark

Active member
anyone use bone conductors headphones with their legend? Or have used them. I have to pull one side of my headphones off my ear a little in order to hear my pinpointer. and I also have ear ringing in my right ear and a little hearing lost. Sure would be nice if I could get a pair of these that worked. But I couldn't pay over 50.00 for them.

bone conductors headphones Are not Aptx LL they have a delay
ok thanks. Ive read where several people use them on their legend. I know that a member, OldKoot uses a certain brand of the bone conductor phones an has no trouble with lag. Ill just keep researching. sorry about the double post.

There are wired bone conduction headphones available from XP but I think they are over $50 plus you would need the headphone adapter and a ⅛" to ¼" audio jack adapter. No delay there, though. If you set your pinpointer to vibrate, you don't need to hear it, you can feel it. That's what I do because my hearing is terrible too. It is also the least expensive solution. Also Nokta has a new pinpointer a person can hear through their headphones, just like the Deus does.

I'm with you Picketwire, I use the vibration only feature. It doesn't attract attention and prolongs the battery life. All that extra connection stuff is just more to fiddle with and another thing that can break. Keeping it simple is the way to IMO.

I think the ones he uses are called Avantree torous. I saw them on Amazon but they are slightly more than 50 bucks. I did see a post on Detector Prospector about APX ll bone conductors. They list for 69 but have a 20 dollar off coupon. They are called Ziocom open ear Bone conductor headphones. I'm told they are actually air conduction not bone conductors. I lost my bone conductors last year so I'm going to give them a try. I'll let you know what I think.

I like bc headphones, however on my unit i just use vibrate so my ears are always open

Received the Ziocom open ear headphones the other day. Charged them up. They paired up to the Legend within a few seconds. The LL icon was displayed on the screen. Air tests showed no delay. IMO they could be louder but for me they will be fine. The only issue I see if there excessive wind/wave or traffic noise. When the weather is warm, wearing headphones, it doesn't take long for me to get aggravated when the sweat starts dripping. The battery life is advertised at 8 hours. A long hunt for me is usually around 6 or 7 so that shouldn't be a problem. Doesn't mention anything about waterproof or rain resistant I may field test them

this week. If so , will post my thoughts.

Have you had a chance to use these yet ? your thoughts ? also which model are these and did you purchase through Amazon ?
Ziocom model LK02 from Amazon. I did some air tests with them and they worked fine. No lag. I went over to a neighbors yard which he has dug up. Found a few pennies. They are not real loud but loud enough for me. And I have Hi-freq hearing loss above 3k. As I posted earlier hunting close to traffic, waves at the beach or high winds could be a problem. Overall a keeper for me. Mark

Thanks for your reply I will look into these, I do have a set that I purchased last year based upon another usurer's post, they work ok but do have I think a bit of lag, so not really happy with them,

that is not exactly true

I have and use two pairs of Bone Conduction Headphones with my Legend one pair was produced by Panasonic but Panasonic no longer produces them, however they can be found used on Ebay, the others are like Bone conduction but are in fact air conduction, both Links are to headphones that I have personally used with the Legend and both are compatible with the Legends aptX LL audio codec wireless connection

the main problem with bone conduction type headphones is every one of the ones I personally tried the Volumes were very low, they do work good but if there is any kind of wind blowing it makes them hard to hear, with the Panasonic's you can put ear plugs in and it helps but for me personally it kind of defeats the purpose of why I wanted to use bone conduction type headphones.

link below is the Air conduction type

yes sir I use the Avantree Torus with every detector I own and I love the Torus, they work fantastic, do not purchase from amazon if you decide to Purchase the Torus, purchase them directly from Avantree amazon you only receive a 1 year warranty on the avantree site you get a two year warranty and you do not have to register them as avantree keeps a record of your direct purchases for warranty purposes for you

Those are the ones OLDKOOT uses. I think for me in hot weather them sticking to my neck would be irritating. Same goes for the connecting cord between my earbuds. When sweating they have a tendency to stick and when I turn my head they get dislodged or come all the way out. Hence the bone conductors. Just my 2 cents. And by the way a 2 cent'r is #1 on my bucketlist for coins.;)
Never tried those medley airs at all

so I have been using an inexpensive set of bone conduction head phones, no name on them but I am pretty sure they are anker ???? the only thing I am sure of is they are Bluetooth I think 5.3 so using them today when paired they do not activate the LL icon on the legend, so as I was hunting I always consider delay, it's always in my thoughts, I can not tell really if there is a noticeable delay, probably is, but realized that I use the machines pinpoint feature a lot so the latency issue has not been an issue and plenty loud enough run volume at 2 or 3 depending on location,
on another note I saw O K's post I hit E Bay and scored a Panasonic BTGS10 should be here tomorrow or Friday it will be interest to compare them
Hit a close to home trashy park today had a couple of hours to kill, interesting complete Budweiser beer can about 8" deep screamer of a signal VDI 52-53 solid, anyway all I came up with today a couple zinc penny's, beaver tails pop tops, couple caps oh and the bud can
had a great time anyway
