Small park I’ve hit with D1,D2,Manticore hits more silver in a few hours !

This park is close to home I’ve hunted it a bunch of times over the years and found a lot of silver there it was never detected.
The point I’m getting at is I’ve found more silver going back with two different detectors in the last week same spots more silver with the Manticore 6 dimes one war nickel and a Washington almost all were masked had junk in with all the silver so in my soil the manticore definitely outdid my D2 I also found about 10 wheats and a few dollars in clad in about 3 hours and the religions medallion which is sterling.
I hunted the exact area going slow the quarter came from another area in the park so I
Can say always go over a area with more than one detector if you have the ability.
Good luck out there got a new to me truck I’ve missed not having one a 2wd Tacoma!

Nice lookin’ truck Mark! Incredible silver day!!!

Go back and find the top of the Merc dime that was clipped off!!!

I have zero experience with the Manticore so I can not speak for its capabilities. I use the D2 and would never say which is better. Have used the D2 for 2 years now and still learning it. I would be interested in trying the Manticore in locations I have hunted with the D2. Some nice finds for any machine.
I haven't owned a car since about 1976, only trucks.. Ford, Chevy, Dodge; I have had them all. Like detectors they all have their plus/minus.

I had a Etrac Garrett equinox 800 900 now I own the D2 and Manticore I prefer the manticore because it is definitely very good at unmasking

Thanks. I may have stated in previous posts I have an etrac and currently looking for a replacement that has faster recovery speed and more proficient at unmasking in iron. I primarily deal with massive iron concentrations in old farm sites. Have narrowed choices down to manticore and D2. Info like yours is invaluable in making this decision. Thanks so much.

You can’t go wrong with any of the new detectors
The new 700-900 would be a great choice.
I go over every spot with both machines the D2 and manticore to get the best results and it works well I never said one was better than the other the manticore unmasked more coins than the D2 in my soil after going over the exact same spot slowly.
I stick with what I know produces the finds are consistent I like my D2 and manticore I just use one after the other.

What detectors did you have before the D2 and Manticore?
Mark,

Agree on the Manti in Iron. I'm going out this weekend to try my new 5x8 and large coil at a beach (grass/sand parts) that I've pulled over 2000 coins out of. I'm hoping I pick up some small gold that is left

Thanks for posting your results. I’m glad to hear good reviews on any detector. If I ever run across a great deal on a manticore I’ll snag it up.
I also believe that if you thoroughly detect a spot with detector “A” then later with detector “B” you’ll find missed targets and vice versa. I have detected a tiny park with top-tier detectors, then later brought a simple one knob detector there and found some more coins at varying depths. (none extremely deep) No doubt some detectors are better but none are perfect. I guess that could be a good thing.
I also believe if using a decent detector, don’t use any discrimination and dig it all then you could find as many or more good finds then using the most expensive detector and only digging good signals. Of course location, health and how a person enjoys the hobby will determine what detector is best for them. HH

Howdy Mark--
As usual you dug some excellent finds! Your hunt reminds me of an old oil-camp that I have hunted since the 1980's, I first hunted it with the Fisher 1260-x, then the White's Eagle 2 , then the White's SL 89 , then the White's XLT and the natural progression was the White's DFX. With each of the detectors, I dug several silver coins, Wheat Cents, jewlery, and relics. When the White's V3i was released I hit it with the V and was amazed at how how much I had missed! The first time I hit the the camp with the V3i,I dug 28 Wheat cents and 17 silver coins including Mercs, Silver quarters, Silver Jeffersons and a few foreign silver and copper coins and of course more silver rings & relics. In addition to hunting a sight with multiple detectors may I suggest using different search coils (if available), with the White's detectors , at that sight , I have used the the 9.5, 6X10, 4X6 and with the V3i the D2, 12", 9.5, 9" concentric , 6X10, 5.3, 4x6. Using a different coil is similar to using a different detector. Each coil has has it's unique strengths. Due to health issues and the passing of my old hunting buddy , Kenneth, I have only been able to swing a coil 4 times in the last 2 years. Ill be going to a physical therapist this week and hopefully, I will be able to get back into "swing" of things!. Best of luck and...
Happy Hunting!
