X-terra Elite headphones and beachcombing.

Okay. I guess we have different designs because I definitely can't do that with mine LOL. But I think I could rig up a strap or sling of some kind cuz I agree if it hangs off of your hip it'll be bouncing around.

I think that most of us have scoops with long handles, which would make carrying it over the shoulder easier.

Personally, I just drag mine behind me to keep it out of the way and away from the coil. My shovel has a short handle, so when I'm hunting with it I hang onto the handle and then hook my thumb in my belt or hip pocket behind my back to take the weight off my arm and keep it out of the way.

That scoop will work in dry sand OK, but you’ll be better off with a long handled scoop in the surf and wet sand areas.
Those rouge waves will catch you off guard while retrieving targets and a long handled scoop will give you better leverage too.
As far as carrying a long handled scoop, I alternate from carrying it by my side with the scoop behind me and having it over my shoulder.
Either way can be tiresome after a while especially if I am not getting many signals.
One trick I have seen locals do at the beach is have some type of hook attached to a belt and have the scoop attached to it while letting the top of the handle drag behind in the sand… in doing this they can tell where they have been by the marks left in the sand.

I like that idea of dragging it behind me. I did order one on Amazon with the handle. I can see now why that one would be better cuz I wouldn't have to put the detector down and instead could pretty much just use my foot to force the sand scoop into the sand and pull it up. I might see if I can come up with some kind of harness almost like for a sword where it could be over my left shoulder. I don't know LOL

I like the long handle just because I don't have to kneel down and get back up nearly as often as I would have to without one.
And, if you go into the water more than knee deep, having the long handle is a must! Wood handles are fine but can be heavy. Handles of other materials should be filled with foam and capped to help prevent them from sinking.
