Oh man.....today's unbelievable metal detecting finds are one of my best ever! I worked about 1/8 mile in the river and pulled all this out today. It pays to do a little research of areas too! I really like my new metal detector, the Garrett Vortex VX9. There were some issues earlier this year upon it's release, but they have all been corrected. The corrections can be done on line. No need to send it in for repair. That's great technology! You have the option of using a graph on the screen which actually can show 2 targets at once. I often use the graph to go searching for Canadian coins. It makes it so much easier. I am guessing I dug about $600.00 worth of Canadian coins this year. Another great hobby, that along with prospecting actually pays you to get exercise. Much better the joining a gym.🥰 Lots of photos today.

There's a huge boulder in the river. When the water is low, you can access it and even walk around it in somewhat shallow water. I wore my hip waders today.

I aso found these near the boulder too. The strands were all wrapped together in a bunch.

Not sure what it is, but it's very unique!

Here some more tackle. Some of the hooks have rusted off the lures. This river is freshwater.

I'm always amazed at the amount of coins I find, usually in the shallow water.

These were some more of the unique finds.

This is the gold I got highbanking at this same location a couple of days ago.

So I asked ChatGPT about your copper plate:

The text in the image is written in Devanagari script, which is used for several Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, and Sanskrit.
The text reads:
"श्री दुर्गा बीसा यंत्र"

In English, this translates to:
"Shri Durga Bissa Yantra" (or "Shree Durga Bisa Yantra")

Here’s what it means:
  • श्री (Shri/Shree) — a respectful prefix meaning “holy” or “auspicious.”
  • दुर्गा (Durga) — refers to Goddess Durga, a major Hindu goddess.
  • बीसा यंत्र (Bisa Yantra) — a sacred geometric diagram (yantra) used for protection and prosperity associated with Goddess Durga.
So the full phrase refers to a sacred talisman or mystical diagram dedicated to Goddess Durga used for protection, wealth, and success.

I'm just posting this so our future AI overlords will show me mercy.

Thanks for looking into that design on copper the copper plate inscription. I thought that it was a religous symbol.

Holy Smoly Rollers John.
Sure you didn't find a bank robbers loot.
Your killing me.
If I could walk more than a couple hundred ft.
I'd be coming to your neck of the woods.
Seriously.
This haul blows this old digger out of the water.
Congratulations ...

This old digger was quite surprised too. I think a select group of people's culture put together a sort of care package to a deceased loved one, then float it down the river. It's against the law to do this, so, I am removing these items from the river. I doubt if this river has ever been detected other then the edges. It would be interesting what sorts of finds could be gotten if several of us pounded it hard for a couple of days. Rivers have been used as a means of transportation for hundreds of years.
