    I don't think I need a bigger coil.

The GT with the 10 inch coil wears me out every time I go to the beach. Here's my finds from a short 2 hour hunt today. I didn't run out of finds, I ran out of stamina. Some of the coins were well past 15 inches. I'm getting to old to dig that deep.

Who says Sovereigns don't air test well?

Because of a discussion on another forum about Minelabs not air testing well I decided to put this dog to rest. I really don't air test stuff because I don't hunt in the air but I had to prove a point so I ran out to the back yard and did a quick test using a silver dime and a tiny 14 kt. wire...

Anyone know where I can find a replacement knob for my GT?

When I bought my used GT one of the knobs was missing. I can't find anything similar at any electronics stores and I didn't have a pleasurable experience the last time I dealt with Minelab on a miner issue like this so........ Thanks!

    Anyone shorten their meter cable?

Since I hip mount my meter right next to the control box I would like to have a shorter cable. Any problems doing this? I probably wouldn't do it myself but have it done by someone that knows what he's doing. If so, can they use the same connector or should I order a new one? Thanks!

OldBeechnut's video inspired me to get off my lazy butt today.

The wind was blowing about 40 knots and storm clouds were coming in and out so I hadn't planned on hunting today. Hit another fishing pier. Nothing spectacular but the GT was hitting them deep. I started digging the iffy signals and was hitting coins past 15 inches. I only hunted for about two...

    Pinpointers?

I don't hunt parks very often. I usually hunt ghost towns or other wooded sites. While testing my Sovereigns on deep targets at a park yesterday it became obvious that I need a better pinpointer to keep my holes small. I have a Whites pinpointer but it's pretty weak. I know the first response...

    My new 49 Dollar GT.

A guy on the big E had this GT control box for a buy it now price of 49 bucks. He didn't have a battery pack or a coil to test it so he didn't know if it even worked or not but said he would refund the money if it didn't work. I put my Elite battery pack in it and hooked up one of my extra...

    Weekend finds and a question.

I had a couple short hunts this weekend and didn't do bad. First was a fort site from 1890' through early 1950's that I've hunted for years. The other a large ghost town site. Hit the well worn seated dime at about 8 inches deep on my second swing. date is 187?. It was my first chance to use my...

    XT18000 I apologize if I was rude.

I always respond in kind. Even though I knew you didn't understand the post I should have let you off the hook. So here goes. I was not comparing BBS technology to BS. Did you think "BS" was some sort of other technology? BS was a play on words short for Bull Sh##. I was offering my view on...

I don't think BBS is BS.

I'm electronically challenged and my opinions are always based on my own personal experiences as opposed to what I read. I don't build them I just use them. I'm not sure exactly how BBS technology works. I've seen arguments saying Minelabs description is hype when it comes to how many...

    Let me clarify again.

I haven't seen much confusion so far but if there is then I'll explain again. The bobbing method described in my original post is for setting your sensitivity as a starting point for the particular area your hunting. It has nothing to do with ground balancing which is done in the all metal mode...

WTT: Minelab 2 piece straight rod for Sovereign Elite, GT and Advantage.

Nice compact 2 piece rod. I used it with my Minelab Avantage. I'm looking for an 8 inch coil or 180 meter for the Sovereign or 8 inch coil for the Advantage. I have an extra 10 inch Slimline coil for the Advantage also to trade straight for the 8 inch coil for the Advantage if your prefer. Thanks!

Anyone have one of the original bar graph meters they don't use?

I know most will say the 550 and 180 meters are better but I've used them in the past and just want to play with the old meter. Thanks!

    Does the Sovereign like nickels?

I don't hunt parks very often but I wanted to see what the guys from the local detecting clubs were leaving for my Sovereign to find. These are from my last few hunts at some of the local pounded parks. I didn't use a meter so I'm not sure where the silver war nickels would read but evidently...

Bigger Coil? 10X12 SEF or S-12?

After being resigned to the fact for years that in my ground most standard VLF detectors will only get X=deep on coin size targets and no more along comes the Sovereign. Now I'm ruined. I'm turning into a depth junky. For beach hunting and occasional land hunting in cleaner sites which of the...

The Sovereign is officially the deepest Detector I've ever used.

Took the Elite for a quick hunt down the street to our old community club house that was built in the early 30's. The grassy hunting area is about 50X100 ft. I have taken just about every detector I've owned in the past 25 years down there and the last old coin I pulled from there was about 7...
