The dreaded Iron Question with some pictures.

This was briefly discussed in an earlier thread. I asked someone to try this test with the Vision or any detector for that matter and after testing the Vision like all of today's detectors would not hit the coin in the test. I doesn't matter what you use as long as you discriminate out the...

    Why Was The Vision Produced?

The 5900/6000 series and XL Pro are the best detectors Whites ever produced. That's why I still use them and will continue to use them. I haven't seen anything since the XL Pro from Whites or any manufacturer that has interested me. I need something more than bells and whistles to get my...

I just made an ash out of myself

Steve I've been to Sand Point many times. I used to deliver fuel-heating oil by tug and barge to most every village and town along the chain down to Dutch Harbor but I've never stopped and explored at Unga even though it's just a short skiff ride when the weather is good from Sand Point.

I just made an ash out of myself

I've hunted a few old cabin sites and fox farms along the chain but even though I've been in and out of the Islands that had action during the war I didn't feel right about detecting them for some reason. Of course the possibility of banging a live grenade with my shovel may have something to do...

Somebody send me a Vision and I'll compare the hell out of it

Of course these comparisons are only valid if you live in Western Washington in my basement, next door to me or at least hunt the same areas I do but who cares. You can trust me...................................................no really!

Steve, yes she blows from time to time. It's something to see. I use to Captain a 275 ft. vessel named the Redoubt out of Nikiski AK.

    Noticed this :clapping:

There is no detector made today that will see thru iron, aluminum or any other metal. If the two targets are touching or very close together the detector sees them as one target. It will average the two targets. You have to put some distance between the targets. Here is a simple test. Take a...

:whites: First impressions of the Vision :yikes:

Hombre, I've reached a state of nirvana with the detectors I use now. They do everything I need them to do as far as depth and discrimination. I'm more of a simpleton when it comes to detectors but you never know so I'm keeping an eye on the new Vision.

Let's just say what ever Bill did, he did it right. Here's two of mine. Not pictured is the third one I just picked up.

A mini poll, sort of on possible new detectors by Whites.

With the discussion of possible new detectors from Whites I wanted some feedback on a subject I've been discussing on another forum. If Whites were to reintroduce the XL Pro or another detector maybe like the IDX Pro that operates on one of the lower frequencies such as 8.2 kHz. found on the...

My XL Pro may get dethroned.

My 6000's and XL Pro have been my main detectors for many years but the IDX Pro with Mr. Bills mods. and little Bullseye coil continue to impress me. I took the IDX Pro and Bullseye for a short hunt last night at an old one room school house that I have hunted many times over the years. It was a...

A little ghost towning this weekend.

I should have listened to Monty years ago about the IDX Pro with Bill's mods. and Bullseye coil combo. I hunted a couple of different sites this weekend for 2-3 hours at each site. One site is gost town in an area where a hotel once stood and the other is an old picnic ground area that is still...

Here's one you don't see very often.

Gold Mountain King Cobra. It runs at 15 khz. with notch and tone ID. Runs very quiet in trash. If you disc. or notch out certain targets you will not hear them. Not even a peep. Very similar to the old Tesoro Golden Sabre. Fun little machine to use.

I'm the proud father of twins!

Not identical twins. One has a bigger head than the other. I really like Mr. Bills mods.

Question about the IDX Pro Blacksand switch?

I understand the function of this switch to expand the lower discrimination range but when using it set to the blacksand position on a salt water beach can I use 0 discrimination in disc. mode and still be above a discrimination setting to handle the salt? Thanks!

Took the little Bullseye coil for a walk.

I went to an old fort site yesterday with the modified IDX Pro and Bullseye coil. The fort was started in the 1880's and closed after WW II. The Parade Grounds have been used thru the years as a ball field. I've been hunting this site for about 15 years and have pulled a lot of silver, indians...

    Any electronics wizards here?

I have a Minelab Advantage that went squirrelly on me. It turns on fine but will not make a sound on any metal waved under the coil. If I touch the coil connector where it it goes into the control box it starts beeping like crazy. I take my fingers off and it goes silent again. I assume it's...
