    MTpockets is a good man!

No complaints here. He's honest and does what he says!

Coil covers can be a pain.

I know that most folks like them, and I will use them oncertain machines, but I have been digging for 30 years and never have scuffed a hole or crack in one. My biggest complaint with them is the difficulty in removing them if they have any sand or dirt inside. If you accidently stretch the...

    Silicone oil

I work at a water plant, and we use silicone oil for o-rings and fittings. It's put out by Hach, and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to use this on external rubber seals on the Excal, like around the knob stem rubbers and the battery pod connection rubber disc? The oil does soften-up...

    Excal battery terminal question.

I'm having some good luck with the Excal, and I like it better than any other water machine I have used, so far. I'm not in salt water, but noticed when I unscrewed the battery pod connection that the terminals were wet. No leakage of the pod, but perhaps I didn't screw the connector cap on...

    Best freshwater settings for Excal

I have gone from using a Tiger Shark to an Excal. I bought a nice used one from another member here. The Tiger has been great, and I will continue to use it. I took the Excal out yesterday, and found around 1.50 in change, and some tabs. No nickels, foil, or hairpins(which I'm always digging...

FS Minelab X-Terra 70 with extras EX!

This outfit is in excellent cosmetic AND working condition. I am the 2nd owner, and it has seen little use by both of us. The batteries that I will send with it are probably only the 4th or 5th set that's ever been in it, and they are good. You will get the stock coil(with 2 covers-one brand...

Favorite for freshwater...Excal or Tiger Shark?

I have used the Tiger for some time now, and it's done very well. Just wondering how the Excal would compare in freshwater. Thanks.

    Fist gold of the season.

My finds from this morning. Gold band is only 10k, but it was a welcome sight. Other ring may be silver, but it's not marked. Not pictured is the pocketful of tabs that I culled-out before taking pics.

    Tiger Shark Tot Lot finds

Got a workout this morning. No gold, but did find one broken and bent-up silver ring. It was fun.

My old artritic self is going to swing the 10.5 coil tomorrow.

I'm going relic hunting around a CW campsite, and I haven't taken the big coil out YET. I've had it for months. I swung it in the yard as I was taking it out to the truck tonight, and I have a feeling this thing is gonna whoop me tomorrow, so I'm taking the stock coil with me for relief. Can't...

    A few Eldorado relics today

I've been "under the weather" recently, and today was the first day I felt like digging in a while, so I went back to a place that I've been hunting for about 4 years. One of the buckles is CW, I'm fairly sure, but the other one looks more like a more modern Army belt buckle. Found one Sharps...

:surrender:Might be out of comission for a little while

I've had a recent bout of digestive tract problems, and it appears that a hernia has gotten larger in my gut. I know what the doc is gonna want me to do, so I guess I had better have it fixed. Bloating and blockages have become a frequent nuissance.

Got to hunt with the Eldorado today.

It is a sweet, no-nonsense machine. I didn't swing it over any good targets today, because I was looking for a new CW camp, going over some new ground. I did dig enough junk and a little melted lead to know how the machine acts. I tuned it in after GB'ing it with a good, low threshold in all...

Taking the new Eldorado for a walk tomorrow

I'm going to hunt some new ground for CW encampment sites. Looking forward to using the Eldo!

Is there such thing as an Eldorado uMax?

I bought a machine from a fellow member here and got it today. It was advertised in the classifieds as an Eldorado uMax. Man, it's a clean, nice looking machine! It is truly in like-new condition. But nowhere on the machine or owner's manual does it say "uMax". I have a Silver uMax that has...

I just don't know how that little 6" DD coil does it.

I bought my X-70 used(but like-new), and got the stock coil AND a 6" 18.75 DD coil with it. The former owner told me that I would be amazed at the depth of that little coil. Being from the "old school", I always believed in the old "circumferential convex" theory that a small coil meant shallow...

Found a good button this morning!

I went back to a farm where I have been digging CW relics for several years, but this was the first trip with the X-70. I have hunted all the fields to death, and I have been reluctant to hunt the fenced-in yard(a 3-4 acre yard). I talked to the owner this morning, and they said to dig all I...

The Eldorado Umax will be heading this way.

It's gotta make a cross-country trip from CA to VA. Maybe the conditions will be better around here to use it when it gets here. Lord knows, I haven't been able to get out and use my other toys in a long time. The ground is rotten around here when it isn't frozen.
