A trip to "stinky" lake, first hunt with MXT.

I got up the gumption to go hunting locally yesterday. it was a nice spring day here in the heartland. not a terrorist to be seen! So, I took my new Whites MXT out for a learning session at what I call "stinky lake". I call it that because the powers that be put the swimming beach right across...

Have any of you ever been to the crater of diamonds state park in Arkansas, and if so, did you find anything?

My partner Grumpy and I are planning a couple of days down there later this spring. Would appreciate any comments on the place.

I shoveled a mixture of snow and water earlier this afternoon.... Not my idea of good weather. SOOO.....

I am planning another trip down to florida. The wife doesn't want to stay there for a month, so I'm taking my Astro van camper. I'll have my cell phone. my lCD teeny TV, and snackcooler. Should be able to get one heck of a lot of water hunting in. Planning on heading down that way around tax...

Question on charging my Excal using battery power from vehicle.......

Hi all. I will be heading down to Sobe in a few weeks for an extended hunt. To save money, and because the wife has no interest in living in our fifth wheel, I will be sleeping in my van. My question is, can I charge my Excal with the van battery? I mean an overnite 10 hour charge, without...

My new bling bling made with rings I found.

While I was down in Florida, I found a sand dollar in my scoop. I hung on to it, and when I got home, had a jeweler cast it. I gave him about 16 dwt of 14K rings to use for the mold. The result is a half dollar sized unique pendant I'm now wearing. Made with gold I found from a cast of a sand...

Does a piece of jewelry made from found rings qualify as a new find???

I'm having a sand dollar pendant made from some 14K rings I found. my friend Doug and I compete every year to see who finds the most gold. I told him this should qualify as several finds because it will have the gold from 5-6 rings in it, weighing 3/4 oz. So, do I get credit, or not? ( actually...

Not MD related, but my new winter activity.

I'm tired of watching the snow covered landscape up here. I got into wood carving by accident while down in Florida. heres my modest collection of humble efforts to date. its fun, and definitely passes the time.8)

Julie and I got home about an hour ago. We had a great month in Panama City Beach. No gold, no silver, but had a lot of good hunting, picked up some tan color, and met some really nice folks. we stopped in Taylorville Illinois about 1;30 this afternoon, picked up a U-haul trailer and brought...

    Another CZ-20/Excal update.......

The other day I was at a local beach here (Panama City Beach). Hunting with the CZ. I started getting signals all over the place. Turns out that there were small "rust bits" all over the beach area. The CZ was really banging on them. I found other targets, but wasted a lot of time with the good...

Leaving for home next friday. Is it still 50 degrees in the midwest??

Or will I experience "climate shock"??:surprised:

Murphys law ruled the beach here yesterday. LOL

I went to the beach yesterday for a couple of hours. Visions of gold doubloons, emeralds, old cannons, etc. dancing in my mind. I tuned up the Excal and started sweeping. The first thing I noticed was that it was going off about every ten to fifteen seconds. HMMM.... I knew I'd just recharged...

Heres my take on beach hunting with three different detectors, Excalibur, CZ-20, and Sovereign Elite. I'm using all three right now in Florida.

I have all three detectors down here with me. I've used the Sovereign Elite several times so far, and am well pleased with it. It's a bit more awkward with the bagmount and digital meter, but it does a great job of finding and sorting out targets.Only drawback is it isn't waterproof. The...
