It was a historical find day today...

The sun was shining, the lake is dropping... the cabin is 99% finished.. Decided to take an afternoon off and go for a walk/detect today. The lake was like a mirror, saw a couple of eagles; so it looks as though our long lost spring may arrive. :): [attachment 120787 str.-rossland-004.jpg]...

I have been checking out the goldquest aquasearch pulse. As of now, I live in fresh water areas. However, in one lake in particular, I have been finding a lot of old coins and rings.... they are deep however and pretty much at the extreme range of the excal. Well, some are Darwin awards winners, some are just stupid...... But all the stories are funny!! :):

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us. Here is the glorious winner: 1. When his 38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach , California would-be robber James Elliot did...

It is about the size of a quarter, and the back is plain... unless you count the place where a clasp of some sort might have been. [attachment 117957 silver-medal-002.jpg] Any help would be appreciated. Fair winds Mikie

Decided to take a rare day off and go down to the beach for some arrowheading and detecting

First to Braceys Point to search for some arrowheads. Was not there for 10 minutes and found this little bird point. Tried for another 30-40 minutes with only common knife to show for it. [attachment 115781 edgewood-detect-004.jpg] Then over to Old Edgewood for some detecting. Found two 40s...

    Stories by Mikie........

This is a very different story than I am used to writing. It will combine elements of history, sociology, generational bias and all round good kid fun. : I just finished re-reading a book called Boss Whistle

Too snowed in to do much so I thought a couple of pics of the cabin and one of an almost invisible doggie might brighten a few days.. :):

Decided to go and shoot a few pictures of the cabin. I have been promising to do this for a while so I finally made good on my intentions. The little dog decided to follow me out and leaped into an unplowded area of snow. Seems as though she loves it.. [attachment 113677...

I hope that these rescuers manage to save these horses. They still have a great deal of work, but..

With determination, They may get it done. No animal, whether you like them or not, should be treated this way. However, with the rescue going on, it is an uplifting story!! http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national/story.html?id=1107651 Calm seas Mike

Ask not for whom the bell tolls!!

It was a dark and stormy night. [I always wanted to start a story with this classic line!! : ]Well, it was.!!.... one of the worst that had hit the lower Vancouver Island in many a year. The winds were howling at between 60 and 80 miles per hour. This was in December, so there was blowing snow...

    Cinder.... the rat tailed cat..

We have always had animals. And we are always a sucker for a hard luck story; especially if that hard luck story involves animals. And so it was that we had Cinder fall into our lives. Our daughter, Eva, has been a soft touch for anything in distress. Birds, dogs, cats, horses

The ultimate dust collector.. Thank you to Ron for inspiration. :):

Ron kinda inspired me on this small tale. He was describing the artifacts that he found on the lightship wreck and suggested that I write about a couple of bells from shipwrecks that I have found over the years. I will do that later, but for this story, I will tell of my near-hernia and the...

Now here is one bad p**sy cat!!

And I mean bad. Alice and I were working on the cabin and the grandkids were doing the grandkid things. Matthew came up and asked where he could find some frogs or toads. We told him go to the north field and look in the ditches there. The horse is perfectly safe so we had no fears on that...
