    I understand now. I don’t see a shallow N or triangle trumpet on the E. Thanks for that printout from your book, it’s very interesting.

    I have never heard of the N variety. Here is a photo of the reverse. The obverse is smashed right on the last number of the date so mine is a guess of the last digit.

    I was lucky enough to find an 1874 British half penny, but I could be wrong on the date. At another spot I found a 1939 wheat cent and a 1964 Washington quarter. Bad dirt at both spots but the moist soil helped me hear the coins.

    I was lucky enough to find a British half penny. The date looks like 1874 but I could be wrong. Also grab up a 1939 wheat cent and a 1964 Washington quarter. All coins were in bad ground and the moist soil helped me to hear the tones.
