What kind of bullet is this?

The object he’s talking about is smaller than a penny and made out of lead. Cap bombs were bigger than a penny and not made of lead.

    Letters of a button

If there is an “&” on there, it may be a railroad related button.

What kind of bullet is this?

I think it’s a roofing nail. The lead would spread out and seal once you hit it with a hammer.

    Good looking SLQ

That’s an S mint mark! Probably worth $100. Good job.

Some finds from the Rio Grande Valley Oct. 2022

This was an experiment to see who’s paying attention, and who is gullible. If you’re gullible on social media, you may find yourself going down a dangerous rabbit hole. Everything on my post was true, except for the reindeer. The picture is all the evidence you need to be skeptical. An...

Some finds from the Rio Grande Valley Oct. 2022

Had to work in South Texas back in October for a week. Hunted in the evenings. Every time I go to South Texas, the relics come out of the ground completely destroyed. Something very corrosive in the soil. Found a few old Mexican coins that were toasty. 1906 1 Centavo and a large cent from the...

    Trifecta makes cents

Great job! 45 years of detecting and haven't found one yet.

Today's been a good day hunting

There's no written law that says you have to tell the truth in order to post on this forum. Folks buy coins all the time and claim they found them just to make themselves feel better. Some get caught and most don't. That being said, the difference here is: You claim you found a 120+ year old...

Today's been a good day hunting

The blowup was undisputed proof that the stones are not rose cut, not the condition of the gold plating.

Today's been a good day hunting

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but nothing adds up here. Your jeweler should have known these were not rose cut diamonds also. I blew up a part of your pic and the stones definitely have a flat top and a visible girdle around the edge. Also included a typical circa 1900 Tiffany mark...

Finds from the last quarter of 2022

The first pic is from a 1 acre park in Florida. I love the big aluminum token for a tire plug or $1 off on a bicycle. The other aluminum token has something to do with shoes, but it's too corroded to read. Just below that is a pencil sharpener shaped like a zeppelin. I'm guessing the 1930s on...

    Summary of 2022 Finds

Good stuff as usual. You had a great year because you obviously know what you're doing. I've got all my finds separated and stored by the towns they were found in, so it would be a nightmare for me to take pictures of a year of detecting like that.

Nox 900 scores big silver grrat start to 2023!

Those are always nice to find.

    Weekend with the Manticore

Nice green patina on those IHs. Luckily the fertilizers in the field didn't ruin them. Good finds.

Today's been a good day hunting

Those stones look like the only thing holding them in is glue. Would Tiffany glue diamonds into a socket like a piece of costume jewelry? And a 24K dog tail would bend like putty. Can we get a better pic of the piece and the Tiffany mark on the paw? Tiffany always marks their products with their...

Is it a tax token or a train token?

    I'm going with specialized washer.

3 Gold Rings and some Bridge Work

Whoever lost that row of teeth had a really bad day at the beach. It's always creepy when body parts are attached to your finds.

Literally the last target of the day

Nice find. I didn't know these existed. If I had found one, I wouldn't have known it was Confederate.

    Weird material

Judging from the last pic, I would say a white metal of some kind. An alloy of tin, lead, bismuth, or zinc, et cetera. It may have some weight to it whereas aluminum would be noticeably lightweight.
