    Old farm field finds

Is one the top end of a spoon or fork?

    Any ideas?

I've dug some weird things in my 50 years of detecting but that would have to be at the top.

    What's it?

No idea but it would be nice if the 1880 was a date. Things like that drive me crazy. My daughter thinks I've been that way for a long time.

    Not all thats gold is……

Ron, that's funny. I did the same thing about 10 years ago on the edge of an old Methodist Church. Dug up a rotted leather snap purse and immediately saw gold. It had at least 5 or 6 coins in it. All were French gold colored alum. from early WW@. Weird!. What a let down.

    Most Unusual Shotgun Stamp

Dang! Never seen anything like it. I've dug literally hundreds of them, mostly old paper types. Looks like it was cut like that for a purpose, very neatly. Really got my interest up. Thanks Dank

    Xterra wired phones

The adaptor does not work with any of my head phones. My opinion: Terrible design feature from a good company. I will look for the Garrett MS-2 or the Minelab ML 85. I really appreciate all of your responses.

    Xterra wired phones

Thanks Rick. The Xterra Pro does use a 1/8" jack. At least mine does. I do not like the 1/8" but that's what it is. I don't know why unless it was a "space" issue on the back of the head. I just ordered some ML85's which is what the manual specifies for wireless. Lousy design by Minelab. I now...

    Xterra wired phones

Thanks guys for the info. My present head phones have stereo plugs. Maybe I can find a pair of MS 2's.

    Xterra wired phones

My Xterra that I bought recently will not accept any of my three wired phones. I have the proper adapter (Minelab) and that doesn't seem to make a difference.. I've spent at least 4 hours trying every combination of head phone and button punching and get no sound from the wired phones. I have...

I think I finally found it! Nokta Double Score

Chic, I hope you are right about the "empty spot". I enjoy reading your comments. Common sense and "spot on". No pun intended.

Stolen Whites Spectra V3i from Ashland Massachusetts. It is registered in my name and only i have passcode. It it still of value to thief?

Wills are so important! The last week in August, 1998 my wife and I had our wills made. She was going with her best friend to Europe to visit her friends daughter the next week. I suggested we wait until she returned from their trip to sign the wills but she insisted we sign them before the...

Explorer SE 3D Printed onto Equinox Shaft

I've never even seen a 3D printer. Must be amazing technology. Also needs an amazing mind. I'm still back in the tube days when you could see what was happening. I used to build ham radio rcvrs. and xmtrs. Boat anchors! My mind simply did not adapt to later technology. Sure glad I have 3 grandsons!

    Building my own headphones

Charles, I think that is amazing. Good luck.

I think I finally found it! Nokta Double Score

Treasurechic you are 100% correct as far as I'm concerned. I got rid of My Equinox and Deus 2 and went back to having fun, I was spending too much time trying all the possible settings and less time detecting. I've settled on a new Double Score and a G2+. I'm having fun again. At my age, the...

Curb stripping last couple of weekends

I also have found a few thimbles but no silver. The lady that used it was probably higher up the wealth ladder. Makes one wonder what she was like.

    Has anyone

I just bought my 3rd G2. To me, it's one of the best detectors ever made, esp. for the prices now. I've gotten rid of my Equinox's, Deus 1 and2 and have gone back to the older detectors that I can understand and have bigger letters and numbers on the screen face. The G2+ has the low weight and...

    Warren County Ga Goodies

Dank, you have some interesting finds. I found an identical eagle cuff (I think it's a cuff) on my farm a few years back. WW1 ?? I live near Millen, Ga. in Jenkins Co.

A new find in western Ukraine

A really nice find. Do you know the approximate age/era? It appears to associate with aviation or maybe WW1 and carrier pigeons? I must do some research on your great country.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Metal Detectors

If AI does what some think it will do in detectors I see a bunch of old fat men and women looking for what's left like a rusty nail. At age 87, detecting gives me a lot of exercise just getting up and down on iffy targets. Actually getting down is easy, it's the getting up that's the hard part.
