    Iron falsing

I've switched to the XY screen to help ID iron also but you definitely don't want to use XY to decide to dig or not on a deeper target. Audio clues are MUCH more accurate.

    Iron falsing

I would agree Rockford. I think General's wider range of frequencies and its conductive soil subtraction format helps it ID iron more effectively than Deep HC.

Anyone try out the Deus 2 and then switch back to the Deus?

Big Tim, I'll be sticking with the D2, though I do find the falsing in the iron to be a nuisance. But I am figuring out ways to deal with it and I am pretty sure that XP will make some improvements in that area. I love my D1 but the D2 is more versitile with it's multifrequency platform. With...

prog number six query on d2

Thanks Targits, I had wondered what that icon was supposed to be representing. A head and shoulders never dawned on me.

    Iron falsing

Well Kapok, like you this is a gripe of mine. I haven't got it quite sorted out yet. Relic with IAR set at 5 helps if there isn't a lot of big iron. But I prefer Pitch so I can use a bit of Dicrim. I also resorted to using the XY screen last time out. Yeah, the D1 handled crusty iron better. I...

    US Tones

I would do the same with some programs with my D1. The D2 with it's multifrequency doesn't behave the same way so I no longer deal with those annoying iron squeaks at 98 and 99 that could be bothersome at certain sites. With the D2, like Kapok says, it's those 86-88 iron signals that are now...

    Disc settings in iron

Sigs I tend to use 6.8 in most programs. It will knock out most of the small iron but still give you great target separation. As you raise the disc higher than that you start to see the Deus lose some ability to separate masked targets. Try it over a masked target. Crank the disc up to 20 and...

    Got my new DEUS 2

Congrats! Like most D2 owners, I suspect you will be happy with your purchase.

    1843Silver with the Deus 2

Nice hunt! Not a lot of Deus users use any Silencer. What benefits do you see when you do use some Silencer?

Deus 2 relic mode, to notch or use the IAR rejection

You may have to notch up to 87 to eliminate that crusty rusty misshaped iron that gives a nice sound and an enticing VDI. ;) The few times I have used it, I have set the AR at 3 or 5,depending on the amount of iron, and Notch 0-6. Not sure the Notch makes a difference. Need to play with it more.

Are either of XP's backpacks any good?

MITW, I am not questioning the price difference. I'm not even debating value. I'm just saying I don't know how you can comment on the quality of the XP pack or compare its quality to your pack or any other pack if you have never had the XP pack. Now we may not agree on packs but it is still...

Are either of XP's backpacks any good?

But since you have never owned one, you are just speculating on the quality of the XP pack when you say others can offer a better product at a lower cost.

Are either of XP's backpacks any good?

I can agree that many on Amazon are a lot cheaper. But if you have never used the XP backpack how can you say "many are better"? I am sure your Huntvp suits you fine but it is too small for my liking and it lacks many of the features the XP packs offer. I've never had one of those Huntvp packs...

Are either of XP's backpacks any good?

Have you used the either of the XP packs?

Are either of XP's backpacks any good?

I agree with Old Iron. The 280 is a very well made pack. I cram a lot of gear in it when I am solo detecting out in the woods in the winter. Lot of compartments to keep things organized. It was a bit pricey but it really is top of the line. No regrets for me.

    choices?

I agree. I didn't pair it with my D1 because the 2-second delay drove me mad. ;) But I paired it with my D2 and there is no lag. I like it a lot.

    choices?

I used the D1 for 7 years before I got the D2. No regrets. D1 is a great machine. D2 is better. I have both coils. I prefer the 9" coil. If I mostly hunted fields or the beach, maybe I would prefer the 11". If you don't mind spending the extra money, there is no reason not to get the D2.

    deus 2 false on iron

Kapok, I couldn't agree more. Took the D2 to one of my old colonial sites today and just focused on using Deep HC. Falsing drove me nuts. Those old crusty chunky nails came in at 87. Usually just changing the sweep angle gave it away as iron but not always. I cranked up both Silencer and Bottle...

    deus 2 false on iron

I've noticed my D2 chatters more in Pitch than my D1 did in the heavy iron. In Gary Blackwell's video on V0.7, he mentions that the Bottle Cap reject is useful on misshaped iron. I plan to test that out in my next hunt.

    💀 💀💀💀💀💀. WARNING DEUS 2 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

With all those skulls, I thought you were going to say the Deus II has been proven to give you cancer or something just as dire. ;) Good idea on the screw though. I keep trying to zoom in on your avatar. :)
